Mokona no Yume / Re: Related Car Names
« Last post by Somariel on March 28, 2018, 10:01:46 PM »
Very likely named for Honda Ascot.

Related Cars:
  • Clio
  • Primo
  • Innouva (again, make of that what you will....)
  • Torneo

Well, I now know what I'm going to be naming Ascot's parents and his younger sibling in the magictech-and-political-intrigue AU.
Mokona no Yume / Re: A Cephiran Calendar & Character Birthdays

I think I'm going to be adopting the calendar and most of the birthdays wholesale. (I say most of them because I've already established for my own headcanon when Eagle, Geo, and Zazu's birthdays are relative to each other and I don't want to change it.)

Also, you seem to have either included an extra bullet point or left out a character for the fifth month.

Other AUs that I either never got around to mentioning or that have developed since my last post:

  • A historical AU, where Hikaru has spent the last 8 or 10 years pretending to be a boy. This one spun out of a couple of full-front, head-and-shoulders shots of Hikaru in Episode 29 that made her look like a boy and caused me to want to write a fic where she disguised herself as a boy.
  • The Zagato-tells-the-girls-the-truth AU, where the truth about the Magic Knights' duty comes out during the fight with Zagato, the girls say "Hell no!" to the idea and talk Emeraude into changing things. MKR 2 still happens because the massive realignment Emeraude made in a single burst gave the external appearance of her having died. The girls were sent home during that massive burst and their return was caused by the combination of them wanting to make sure that things were working out okay and Emeraude wishing that she could talk to them again.
Also, Zagato's massive sense of guilt and Emeraude's initial refusal to even consider letting him face any sort of punishment for his actions accidentally leads to BDSM.
  • The Better Plan AU, where instead of setting himself up as the villain, Zagato tells the public that Emeraude has secluded herself to pray and meditate on the current disturbances and gets Clef on board with the idea of telling the Magic Knights the truth about their duty as soon as they arrive. The girls end up stuck in Cephiro for several years while helping to work out the problems of reforming the Pillar system. This one was the result of Down pointing out how much of a better plan (hence the name) that would have been on the chat.
  • Innouva-as-the-S2-villain. The idea originated with MokonaLord, but I have my own ideas for it. It would also end up incorporating a long-standing anime "What If" idea of mine: What would have happened if Nova hadn't stolen Hikaru from the NSX at the end of Episode 29?
  • The S2 Shadow Trio AU. During the anime rewatch last year, VKiera mentioned the idea of Umi and Fuu also having shadows like Nova. The idea latched onto me and refused to let go. It would also probably incorporate the idea Down mentioned during the rewatch of Sierra actually being Presea and pretending to be her own twin is her method of dealing with the trauma of having been buried alive.

Also, the AU I mentioned in the post above this has since been dubbed the magictech-and-political-intrigue AU.

Extremely belated, but the last two chapters of Let the Games Begin were posted around the end of January.

I can never quite decide with Umi and Ascot and Clef, because they ALL end up in the middle of shit and all probably protest loudly about it

I am horribly tempted to say that they're all mostly person B, in fact. Umi certainly person B's her way about Cephiro when they first get there! But probably people looking at them from the outside think that they're: A = Umi, B = Ascot, C = Clef, and then are confused when Clef (mr 'oh I'll just support the whole land without a pillar system and make dynamic moral choices that may lead to the end of my world and STICK TO THEM and maybe I'll just hang out in this nonsense anime room I'm not meant to get into and shield the whole damn castle by myself') is the one who tends to wade into shit and be person A, Umi protest and launches into it anyway in a B ish fashion, and Ascot tries to avoid at all costs but he will DEFEND HIS FRIENDS and gets dragged into things anyway as C.

Unless the crazy bullshit is to do with helping the over-powerful mage children of Cephiro at which point Ascot and Clef are both A and signing adoption forms all over the place and Umi is standing in the background, person C, going WHAT JUST HAPPENED AND WHY ARE THERE CHILDREN??

Among Hikaru, Lantis, and Eagle, Lantis is always Person C, but I think that Eagle and Hikaru are equally likely to be Person A or Person B.

Haha, i saw that, its pretty funny.

Person A= Hikaru
Person B=Eagle
Person C =Lantis

Though if you replaced Hikaru with Geo it would be
A= Eagle
B= Lantis

Somariel shared this on the chat and we didn't discuss it then for reasons. The original post I saw came from birdsquirrel on tumblr:

every ot3 has these very important roles:

person a, who runs headlong into crazy bullshit
person b, who acts like they’re too sensible to run headlong into crazy bullshit, but is really just as bad as person a
person c, who actually tries to avoid running headlong into crazy bullshit, but keeps getting dragged into it by the other two anyway
Himitsu no Kimochi / Re: Alcyone: A hated character in MKR
« Last post by VKiera on March 14, 2018, 09:15:36 PM »
A lot of what Suz said covered why I don't like Alcyone much. I suppose to be fair she's only in that one volume in the manga so it's hard to say too much about her. Was she in love with Zagato or the idea of him? Did she work under him for Emeraude for years and developed a huge love/admiration for him? Is she really trying to win his affection or is she happy with just serving him? It's hard to say. Though her anime only version gives the feeling she really is trying to win his affection, with apparently no idea he has eyes on for Emeraude until she over hears him tell Emeraude as much.

Bottom line, she's shallow, maybe if she had lived longer in the manga she could have had more to her. Like Caldina and Ascot get in season two. To be fair Lafarge gets about as much development as she does and about as much page time.

Her outfit never really bothered me I guess? She wants to dress sexy have at, Caldina sure does, no one calls her sluty for it.
Mokona no Yume / Re: Courting & Dating in Cephiro
« Last post by VKiera on March 14, 2018, 09:06:27 PM »
I'm highly amused at the thought of traditional courting being a thing in Cephrio. Is it only the nobles, or do even the lower class and farmers do it?

Honestly it's not really come up in Ice and Snow really, so that's part of the world building I haven't had to really do much with. Everyone is like in the baby stages of relationships anyways, like Hikaru and Lantis is a thing, but at the moment it's not super serious? Fuu and Ferio have the most...serious relationship I guess? Though since Umi and Eagle are the main focus of this story their relationship isn't talked about a whole lot. Other than gossip about Fuu being Queen, though I suppose if Feiro is still considered a prince she'd be a princess, royal consort? IDK. There's some talk of Eagle and Umi's relationship, if it becomes serious being something of a hotbed of issues. But considering what happens to Eagle as the end it becomes a non issues by then really. I guess I tend to hand waive a lot of it. haha.

I'd imagine Autozam is a lot like the U.S but more relaxed about it? Or I guess if you wanted things to be interesting you could have part of the nation leading very rightwing because of all the bad shit going down there. Not that you know, it's short on political drama already.
