So I've been sharing these elsewhere but  thought I'd post them here. I'm currently working on turning the Rayearth graphic I made for the 25th anniversary into a patch.

I'm thinking of making more 'patches' as it were, not all of them Rayearth related, but I do have a few more ideas, I think once I have a few more projects finished and if I get enough interest I'll upload them to redbubble so they can be bought as prints, or perhaps stickers. I have ideas for each of the girls at least, maybe more characters later after that.

I thought I'd share some photos of the U.S DVDs I have vs the new blurays I just got last month, just in time for the rewatch!

First image is of the three box sets, nice how now that bluray holds so much more data now both S1 and S2 fit on the same amount of disks as only one season of the DVDs. Slimmer casing too, omg season 2 of the DVDs box is such a hassle, season one of the DVDs box is very unwieldy. In trying to make the case smaller they overlaid the disks in the case, making them a hassle to pull in and out. Sorry about the blur, my hands were a bit shaky, oops.


Here we have all the disks out of the box, look they decided to number them like normal people this ago around!


A couple close ups of the bluray set, took the slip cover off the box too, wonder where the new artwork came from? Never seen it before. The disk artwork is a nice use of some of the older original anime art.

Umi x Eagle - general discussion/appreciation/flail

The long in coming and very overly late thread is finally here. Everyone's favorite crackship of choice, Umi and Eagle.

So, I think I've decided what I want to do for MKR weeks coming up this summer and I feel the need to spit it all out and get some feedback if possible.

I want to do three separate 'what if' excerpts from a fic I want to write after I finish Ice and Snow that takes place after season one, with at the end Princess Emeraude being unable to complete the spell to send the knights home before she dies. She ends up partially casting it, so the knights end up separated, on different worlds, suffering from grief/regret (and prolly some serious PTSD) and without their families or the other knights to help them out. They have to pull themselves back together, find the will to fight once more and somehow make it back to Cephiro and into 'season 2' so to speak. All the while in foreign countries, that may or may not be deciding to invade and turn hostile. Hohoho.

So far I have Umi ending up in Autozam, eventually ending up on the floor of the Autozam senate giving them the worst tongue lashing ever for their B.S I think. Plus the amount of simi apocalyptic, cyberpunk ideas I have for Atuozam will be so much fun.

Hikaru I think, will actually never make it out of Cephiro, she's there, to watch the whole world come tumbling down. I thought about sending her to Chizeta but the amount of anxiety I could pour fuel on with her staying in Cephiro proved too delicious to pass up, plus...I just could think of nothing interesting that she could have happen to her in Chizeta??? Ideas???Anyone??

and Fuu is the one giving me the most trouble, I thought at first of her ending up in Farhen, but then that would leave out a country (Chizeta) and Fuu would be interacting with the same nation she did in the anime (instead of mixing things up, with who interacted with who, which was my original intent.) I did also entertain the thought of either her or Umi ending up visiting two nations on their way back to Cephiro, but idk. Thoughts? Any ideas? comments?

Hey, I found some really great scans of the Dark Horse prints of the manga and figured some people might like to see them, or use them for art, ect ect. Sometimes the way they translated differently than TokyoPop did is pretty interesting.

So we were talking about Rayearth merc in the chat and these tomy cards came up. So I'd thought I'd share the images of them I have saved. For reference sake, and ignore the white stars on the cards, it's how I keep up with the ones I already have.

The cards were produced in Japan in 1999 I believe and are a heavy thick plastic, like a credit card.

So, I'm attempting to develop some more complete headcannon for the time Lantis spend abroad, most of that time he's suppose to have spent in Autozam and I'd like to hear what others think about it.

I wonder how long he was there? It's implied he visited the other counties as well, but I guess Autozam was his last stop and he stayed there the longest. I always thought he was at least there half a year, if not longer, but then we're not sure when he left Cephiro either. A month before the magic knights are summoned? A year? I was thinking maybe a year? That would give him time to explore the other countries plus time for LaFarga to be appointed and be settled in as the new captain too.

Also, it's implied he told Eagle about the Magic Knights and how the Pillar system works. It's pretty clear Eagle understands completely how the Pillar system is, but I wonder how much about the Magic Knights did Lantis tell him? I mean does he just know that they're summoned when Cephiro is in danger? Like Ferio and Presea, or is he completely aware their sole purpose is to kill the Pillar? Though I've always wondered why Lantis would be told the full legend and not Ferio? Maybe because he was captain of the guard? But then why wouldn't LaFarga know about the full legend?

I wonder if Lantis willingly left after he got bored while visiting Farhen and Chizeta or did he have to leave? Maybe too many drunken hug parties. And stayed in Autozam because he made friends? I've always had the thought that if the Magic Knights had not been summoned he would have stayed in Autozam and not ever returned to Cephiro, or at the very least not returned while Eagle and Geo were still alive. The whole 'you are the age you will yourself to be' does that um...'turn off' when you leave Cephiro, so he'd start to age normally?

Really I'd just like to hear anyone's thoughts on this, as well as just general head cannon for the other nations.

Soooo after some major meta dumping on poor Ko on the group chat I thought I'd just drop it all here instead, I'm interested in hearing other's thoughts on this.

I've been kicking around the idea of language in Cephiro. I mean, by default, one could assume they're all speaking Japanese? But a few times it's pointed out that Cephiro has it's own special words, ie 'Sol' 'Palu' ect that are very different from the English "Magic Knights" that's actually an important plot point in the manga. So I've always wondered, does Cephiro have its own language? We see a possible written version of it here in the first pages between the stages in the newer prints of the manga by Dark Horse. If you look squint a bit you can make out the words 'magic knight rayearth' about middle of the way down.

So do they have their own language? Is Japanese just the 'common tongue' to use a Tolkin phrase, that all the countries speak along with their own native languages? Does Autozam use English? Arabic in Chizeta (with a southern drawl? XD) and Chinese in Fahren?

Also if they do all speak Japanese does that mean the Magic Knights always come from Japan on Earth and none of the other nations?

I was most curious because I had a fic idea with several of the character's on Autozam and Umi has to end up translating a lot because she's the one most proficient in speaking English xD

So a question that's been on my mind for ages and I never had any great place to ask. This character below is in the art materials collection, I've always wondered if anyone knows where she was suppose to go? Her name? She's a unused villain I think? I don't recall her ever making it into the anime. I assume she's a villain because she's in the same section as Nova and Debonair I've never even heard anyone mention her. Anyone know? I'm super curious.
