Title: What was the last thing you wasted YOUR money on?
Post by: suzanami on January 06, 2007, 01:20:22 AM
I bought a package of sour gummy worms at work the other day, because I wanted them to snack on later.  I just opened them, as I am currently craving such a thing.  I open the package and they're so stale I was afraid I'd crack a tooth just by looking at them.  They are, I've found, edible.  They're tough and chewy, but I am managing.  However, my jaw is starting to feel weird.  Almost disconnected.

What a waste of 80?.

So.  What was the last thing you wasted YOUR money on?

A better question would be: what money havn't I wasted?

I once spent ?1.50 on a book we already have.
?30 on a hair thing I don't actually use.
I also paid ?100+ towards a five night holiday, even though we ended up only staying for one night.

Various things really.

I wouldn't say it was a waste, but I bought an XBox 360 and some games to go with it.

I lost some money earlier this week. Not sure if I wasted it, but I still lost it.

bag of mnms which I stuck in my coat pocket, where it managed to split. When I took the bag out to eat them a day later, there weren't any mnms left - I must have been trailing them around, like Hansel and Gretel ^^;;;;;;;;; Whoops.

Another Snow Patrol CD   Final Straw.   I am just now putting it in.   The other one I have is great Umi/Clef music for writing, I wonder how this one will be.

And why am I not allowed to buy the CDs I want here?  I miss Florida for many reasons. On big one is Virgin Mega Store I could buy Nightwish and all on a damned shelf and listen to it on the bus home, but here in Oklahoma, I have to order those online.  WHY?!

A new update...a Sega Saturn.  I went to an Anime con in Austin (Ikkicon, which the name wasn't too far off from how bad it was) and ended up making my way to a vintage gaming store in one of the malls down there.  They had two consoles left and my friend and I swiped them both for less than $35 each (he paid $35 and I paid $30 since mine didn't originally come with a controller).

went shopping, wasn't thinking, bought crisps as a snack.

...I can't EAT them, because my throat is sore. WHOOPS. >.> And my throat, once sore, stays that way a while.

...I have no snacks. ;_;

((...crisps = potatoe chips in america, I think.))

(we just call them 'chips')

I bought about 2.5 yards of different fabric and five patterns of different costumes because they were on sale. In hindsight I really need to save money for my next cosplay outfit ... which is looking more and more towards something Rayearth. clef?

Down: Due to complete madness and other English frineds and relations, I knew what you meant by crisps.  Truthfully I think the name makes more sense.

I should be saving money for my summer trip to DC, but instead I have shelled out nearly $200 on my new fandom. I wouldn'ted exactly call it a waste, even if I could watch the episodes on YouTube, but a large screen television is so much more fun than a three inch screen on a computer.

I still think I might order Torchwood, though I believe it is not available in Region 1 format...  Oh well, just means I need to hook up my personal DVD Player again. I believe it is still set to region 3 from when it lived at my mother's for that year. Didn't want the step siblings messing with it. Thus if it can't play it is useless, ne? ^.~

Well, a new car.  I posted about it in the "what made your day today" thread.  It's a nice 2007 Kia Spectra.  It's brand new and before I put my hands on it, it had only been driven a total of 16 miles.

$25 for a book I may never even use.  I hate having to buy books.  What is worse is when professors don't even use the damned books.  *groan* Why the hell does one need a text book for a music class?   My personal favourite was the text book for SWIMMING!!!  *dies*

and the $40 late fee for not getting my tuition paid on time because I couldn't remember my student ID number.

I put down the first payment for a FREAKING GORGEOUS original cel from the Sonic the Hedgehog Saturday morning cartoon from the earl 90s.  These puppies are incredibly, incredibly, INCREDIBLY rare and one this beautiful for $150 was a STEAL.  I still have a few more installments to pay for it, but it's worth every penny.  I've never splurged like that, but nothing's ever been worth it.

And if I have to someday, I can sell it for twice as much as I am buying it for.

Dairy Queen... I wanted a cheeseburger (yeah I broke the veggie thing) and got two. I only ate one and no one else was hungry so that one went to waste. I feel so bad buying and wasting food.

A Nintendo Wii.

First of all, a Wii is a totally good use of your money...Wii sports allows you to exercise and play video games all at the same time!

Second of all...I need to stop buying books.  Period.  I have three shelves now that are all double stacked.

Then there's the British/Canadian editions of Harry Potter 1 - 4 I just bought...

True.  Then again, if my parents saw me using my Wiimote, they might think I was having a seizure.  But then again a couple of things come to mind...Zelda and CSI (interested to see how that will work out on the Wii).

There will be, if I read a site correctly, towards the end of November.  CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Hard Evidence.  Apparently there will be a Wii version and an XBox 360 version.  If there is a PoS3 version, I wouldn't care cause I don't see any benefit to wasting my money on that console yet.

A history book on The Black Prince, when I'm meant to be studying his son next year, not him? (The son being Richard the Second - who was deposed and done away with in 1399 as the first act of the 'Wars of the Roses'...) I can't help it, I have a soft spot for the black prince! ...>.<;;;

...I think I may just have broken 2000 books in my room. *winces* I have no wall space for more bookshelves, dammit! (...the last 100 or so are nearly all reading for next year and my dissertation at Uni?) I've still got pretty much all the books I've owned in my life... right down to the enormous pile of Enid Blyton books that are in the loft somewhere. ^^;

You may just have beaten my book collection considering I donated three boxes to goodwill. Im jealous you can keep yours, my partner makes me periodically get rid of them.

I bought mcd's.... and once again I didnt eat the third hashbrown.... urgh. I need to stop splurghing on fastfood but my body needs the calories since I burn them off when I work. >.> seriously.

Well, that's not counting the ones in boxes and packed in stacks around my room....and the house...and everywhere, pretty much...oh, and storage.

<3 sci +books

lol. Whats your main genre? (I typically own more romance than anything... >.> but I have good stock in manga and fantasy too).

I last wasted my money on some wet food my sick cat is snubbing. >.> time to go buy him the chicken and liver kind that he usually goobles  up instead of the organic stuff.

...I just got 8 new ones....  :0

Uh, I don't know that I have a main genre.  I read very widely in everything.  I have a lot of fantasy (from earlier...Tolkien was one of my first loves and I have most of his collected works).  Rowling also has a place of honor on my shelf), classics are a big staple (Austen, Shakespeare, Keats...there's a lot), mythology (particularly Norse), I collect collections of ghost stories from everywhere I go, so I have, Homer, a bunch of Biblical scholarship a lot of those...I have lots of detective fiction (Including old editions of all of Ian Fleming's James Bond novels), lots of Spanish Vanguardista books (Borges and Cortazar rock my world...Cortazar is a bit hard to find in translation though).  Lessee...lots of manga (including the entirity of the out of print Sailor Moon chix manga), anime art books...I'm liking contemporary stuff right now.  Sherman Alexie (a splendid Native American author -  try either Indian Killer or The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (a collection of short stories) and Ian McEwan (Atonement is brilliant and might appeal to your romantic sensibilities).

After way too much information, I'll just say that I'm widely read because I can't pick anything!  :0

it'll be worth it. I've actually had to use my passport a couple times here in the states. Really just twice because the bouncers at bars thought my license was fake. ("Yes I really am 24. No thats not fake. Yes I am aware its bent and the top layer is peeling. Fine let me go get my passport and show you.") urgh. That really hasnt happened since I updated and got my new license. But really my old one was a little icked up but still it had all the security features still on it and all. But que sara sara.
