Title: ReWatch!
Post by: Milieva on September 10, 2008, 01:46:46 AM
I am sure most of you have now seen the message I sent you a few days back. I am aware there are a number of logistical issues to having a Rayearth re-watch. Our forum covers a few corners of the globe, so we have time difficulties. Also many of you don?t have access to the episodes. These are all things we can work with.

I was wondering what other comments you all might have on the idea of re-watching Rayearth as a group.

That's why I like the idea of doing one or two episodes a week. As long as we have a deadline, we don't have to all figure out how to watch it at the same time. And instead of doing an IM, we could just put up a thread for it. Of course, it could be risky considering the fact that people might forget, but it would be the easiest way to do things.

So far I think there are likely to be at least three forms of discussion.  Chat, Thread, and LJ.

I will see what I can do about finding decent sources for episode.  I do have the first three in iPod format. They are not the best quality, but are watchable, if you can stand the Dub.

it's a good thing I have the DVD set, though I'm afraid I can't upload it on this weak laptop.

I'm in - but would struggle to watch it at the same time as you guys in the usa. XD I have the dvds of all except the episode where Umi fights Tarta. Most of the episodes even have subs!

(...I am going to buy official copies as soon as I earn any money. ^^;;;; Rayearth was my first ever ebay purchase. I knew nothing about bootlegs. ^^;;;)

We could watch the ova at some point too? Maybe after the series? It would be interesting to compare them with other people!

There were a bunch of episodes up on youtube a while back - it's how I watched my missing episode.

........I suspect I have shown interest in the wrong bit of the forum (I'm tired ^^; please excuse me~) but I'm in!

Also, I've been part of a couple of CLAMP livestreaming sessions over the summer - not that recently (and I was the main Rayearth fan, heh) which were run using tumblr as announcement and livestream dot com or whatever it's called to stream of someone's computer - that worked quite well, though timezones were an issue. Might be worth trying that? Maybe about the winter holidays when more people are about, and random episodes instead of trying to watch the whole thing (I'd be up for the whole thing, but I'm insane. XD). Just a thought - might be fun to watch with people in realtime. ^^

(plus, announce on tumblr and we might snag a few other people in~?)

Youtube's now got the whole dub up, I think, officially, so for people who don't have access otherwise that might be good...

I revived this thread before I posted the new one, so don't worry.  Both get into the discussion.

Live streaming sounds like a great idea. We could probably do different times throughout the rewatch.  I can do most times of day when I don't have much to do at work.  (I'm such a slacker, doing fandom stuff during work hours)

I was thinking we coudl try to go through the entire thing.  Doing the two eps a week again, with discussion on DNT, here, or something.  Then we can add in the live streaming or a live chat too.  I have all the DVDs.  We could add in the OVA too, at that.

Hey guys!
Let's do this!

Though because I seem to spend most of my time working nowadays (I've become an adult, or so I'm told), it'd be easier for me to watch the episodes separately and discuss on here, rather than a live chat/stream. But we'll see what happens.

Welcome back to the fold, Rev!

Simply joining the discussion here is just fine. I also have a boring adult job, but it's the boring type that leaves you feeling bored.  I spend much of the day playing around on the internet.  Like now....  I'm at the office while doing all of this.

*snork* one of my jobs is manual - no computer time! - and at my main job, I'm not even allowed to check my personal email in work hours. (OR to tell the internet exactly where I work. The joys of being in the public sector........)

The manual job is random shift times, so I'm struggling to work out when to tick on livestream/chat ability. (also, timezones are confusing me! XD) I'll work that out sometime soon~

(Heya, Rev!)

When ever.  I am always more than willing to watch more than once with anyone who wants to.

And the times shouldn't be THAT confusing.  The first ones are all UTC/GMT.  The timezone are for North America, Asia, and Austrailia.
