Something I've noticed about my shipping preferences is that while I'm a multi-shipper as far as my reading preferences go, I am incapable of writing any 'ship that I don not personally support.
The only caveat with my reading preferences is that if the 'ship directly contradicts canon, the story must be well written and contain no character bashing at all.

I'm also stating to warm up to Umi/Tarta, you keep talking bout them and who knows~~ I specially like their color combination because Blue + tones of Orange is really nice!
Damn I could ship SO MANY SHIPS IN THIS FANDOM. Like, I can picture Hikaru with almost everyone, I must have mentioned this already. XD Of course Hikaru/Lantis and Hikaru/Lantis/Eagle rock my boat, but sometimes my mind drifts to Hikaru/Umi/Fuu and solo pairings, Hikaru/Presea and Hikaru/Eagle, I think they could work so nicely! Idk mostly, I like couples that have the potential to grow together and BE AWESOME (hence I'm not big on Hikaru/Zazu or you know Hikaru/Ascot those boys belonged together before I even knew it /sight it's so obvious now). Also, Del once mentioned a dream about me drawing Hikaru/Lantis/Nova and I'm very tempted to rewatch the anime to see how that feels, because that ot3 does sound nice (if only the 2nd seaon didn't leave me infuriated with my favorite charactes and didn't kill Eagle dammit). XD
Caldina/Lafarga, tho, are inseparable. It's almost like Fuu/Ferio, but while I can picture Fuu with the other girls, Caldina and Lafarga with other characters are just a big NO in my head.
There are som many more pairings but I'll have to flail about them later too!! XD
I wish I could ship around more in this fandom because all the non-canon pairings are SO PRETTY. Like Shinomu said, Umi/Tarta is so pretty in the colors ; ;
While I seriously broTP Umi/Ferio, I do crack ship it on the side.
Interestingly I can also only kinda ship Fuu with Umi.
Hmm. The only person I can ship either Fuu OR Ferio with is Umi. I smell an OT3 forming somewhere. Dammit.

I do keep coming back to the idea that Geo is ace, and is in love with Eagle but doesn't mind the whole Eagle/Lantis/Hikaru thing (in whichever combination you want) because it won't ever get in the way of what he and Eagle have?
At Somariel - I find that I can't write anything where the back of my brain can't understand the way the characters fit together. (See also: how I discovered I can't ship Ascot/Umi as working, because I tried and I couldn't write it. ...Unless I add Clef in and then it works because of reasons heh.)

Not understanding the way the characters fit together is pretty much the reason behind my not being able to writing anything I don't personally ship.
I discovered this in my other fandom when I wanted to challenge to writers of the most popular (and completely non-canon) 'ship to write a non-breakup story about the canon 'ship for the male half of that pair. However, I felt that it wouldn't really be fair for me to make such a challenge if I couldn't at least write something about the non-canon 'ship, so I tried to and found every attempt turning into a purely friendship story.
Ah, I feel like 'Jam and I are the only ones who semi-seriously ship Hikaru and Zazu. I cannot help it I have shipped it since I first watched MKR2 and IT WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN. I will wave the H/Z flag forever.
Somariel, I totally feel you about not being able to write pairings that you don't quite "get". I have that bad.
My favourite ship is Clef-as-ace, well, it's a very specific type of ship (shipping someone with no one!). I 'unno, I just see him as a Doctor or Sherlock type figure, or maybe I'm self-projecting. Who knows?
Other than that, I'm just very boring and take whatever the canon gives me.
I guess my best crack ship is Mokona/All the ladies, by which I mean, not the female characters we're shown, more Mokona goes out to the club, he is just surrounded by all the ladies.
So I realized last night that I 'ship Satoru/Kuu.

It's mostly along the lines of the Aang/Katara/Mai/Zuko 'ship for AtLA: a way to solve the 'shipping debate. I 'ship Umi/Ascot and Clef/Presea, but Down, Mils, and others 'ship Umi/Clef, so I thought 'Why not combine them all?"
