Title: Other than MKR?
Post by: suzanami on April 04, 2006, 09:40:22 PM
So, what anime/manga series do you love besides Rayearth?

I pretty much like shoujo, mostly because the plots focus deeply on the characters and their relationships.

I still love Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon. Especially for the manga story, which is much deeper and more mature, and respects the characters more than the anime does. (Mamoru in the anime makes me sad, because he's SO sweet and loyal in the manga) Usagi, Chibi-usa and Minako are my favorite senshi (I don't care for the outer senshi much, though I do love their characters). Sailor Iron Mouse is my favorite villian and I liked SuperS, okay??

Ashita no Nadja is my current other favorite, after MKR. It's so sweet and has SO. MANY. CHARACTERS, all of which are wonderful. It has lots of little plot twists and beautiful animation. There's an LJ community here (http://community.livejournal.com/ashitanonadja), and there's a link to download the series through BitTorrent in the User Info. I REALLY reccomend it if you like shoujo. There's no magical transformations, and it's not your run-of-the-mill Mysterious Masked Man scenario. If you're into characters, like me, there's a HUGE cast, and each character is believeable and beautifully painted. <3

Video Girl Ai is one of my most favorite manga, moreso the first three volumes, before it got so High-School-Drama. I still have to read the last three volumes, though. The art is stunning and I love the intricate character relationships.

Shin Shirayuki Hime Densetsu Pr?tear is beautiful. It's 13 eps and reminds me a LOT of a CLAMP work. The manga and anime are different but both storylines are worth your time. Pr?tear is wholesome with high-quality animation and a completely new spin on the magical girl genre. If you haven't heard of it, I really advise looking into it. It's well worth your time. And I ship Goh, the Leaf? Knight of fire, with Umi in my most favorite crossover crack pairing. COMPLETE STRANGERS HAVE GONE "OMG THAT ACTUALLY WORKS", SO IT'S NOT JUST ME.

Princess Mononoke is one of my favorite movies, period. I love Ashitaka/San. Love love love. >D The characters are so amazing.

I have a soft spot for the Dragonball Z universe. I can't watch the stupid show anymore, because a week to power up is a waste of my time... But I do like the stories and the characters a lot, so I'm in it more for the fandom. *totally into Goten/Bra*

Aaand Escaflowne is so beautiful and wonderful that I cannot do it justice with words. Fuu/Ferio may be my OTP of all time, but Hitomi and Van have THE most pure, wholesome, true relationship I've seen in any anime... or any other story, really. They're SO true and SO realistic. The whole series flows wonderfully and the only mecha cooler than Escaflowne is Windam. ;D Beautiful animation, complex characters, frustratingly wonderful plot... If you haven't seen it, I must ask . . . WHY???

*Cough* the list would take me years, but I suppose the one that has demanded the most of my time, for the better of nine to ten years, is Yu Yu Hakusho. I love all of Togashi-sensei's work, but this is what really got me into anime.

And Hagane no Renkinjutsushi is a big one, too. I cosplayed Lust a few times. (Fullmetal Alchemist, english)

Naruto is gaining my interest. I first downloaded it about... I dunno, five years ago? But I didn't watch that much. Now I'm hooked on the Video games.

X-Day is a favorite Manga of mine, even though it has barely two books to it, the art that Mizushiro-sensei put into it is unique, and the story is very appealing.

Tsubasa:RC is spazz-tastic these days. I adore it. Then again, I love MOST of the stuff CLAMP has done.

Kiddy Grade is 'hawt'. I love the Lezzi-fied characters. XD

Gensou Maden Saiyuki has always been a favorite. ALWAYS. I love these characters, and the humor, while sometimes trite, is unpredictable with it's timing. Minekura-sensei should work on Female anatomy, however. It's always looked lopsided.

That's all I'm gonna list now. I feel all "Fangirly" right now.

It's Palu time, Biznatch!

*Thinks*

Anything Miyazaki - I particularly adore Howl's Moving Castle, Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky Laputa.  Oh love!  <3

Escaflowne, because the characters are nice and complex, the plot has some good twists, and I really like the mishmash of old and new technology.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - one of my first animes ever...Pen Pen still rocks my world.  Also, being a literature nerd, I am fond of existential quandries....basically anything I can do literary analysis on...rules.  I didn't like the movies that much though...they took some of the fun out of it.  :(  Mostly I don't watch animes this serious though.

Full Metal Panic! - I LOVE this.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it because it has just the right mix of seriousness and comedy.  (This is based on a series of novels actually that someone is actually translating!)  Also, Sousuke is probably one of my all time favorite characters, you always know he's gonna screw something up, but you don't know what.

Kyou Kara Maou - Guy drops into an alternate universe through a toilet.  It must be love.  Bishounen galore, humor and incredibly weird things every now and then...

Bleach - It's very fun to watch with friends, as long as you don't think about the massive plot holes.  Also, huge, fun cast to play with if you want to...

Detective Conan - Actually haven't seen much of this, but I love what I have seen ^_^

Honey & Clover - Anything that features a Twister Game of death, that is good.  Also, the characters are very complex, Morita-kun is simple awesomely random, and it has some very fine serious moments.  AND they're doing a second season!

Manga - All I'm really following right now is Tsubasa (which needs more plot in my estimation -_- ) and xxxHolic (Yuuko and Wantanuki loooove!)

Uh....there are many others....but those are the basics.

Hmm...let's see.  I like a lot of the more modern stuff that's been made.

Azumanga Daioh - The first series that I watched fansubbed.  It still cracks me up each time I watch it.

.hack//SIGN - Being the RPG fanboy I am, this one really enticed me.  I wish I had a Guardian of my own now.

X/1999 - Two words...Apocalyptic battle.  CLAMP did an awesome job with this and it will always remain as one of my all-time faves.

Witch Hunter Robin - Something lured me to this series from the first day I watched it.  It's one series that I enjoy just as much as X and Rayearth.

Jigoku Shoujo - Ahh, Hell Girl.  Nothing says enjoyable than signing up on some website at Midnight, wanting to send someone to Hell.  I would recommend it.

Pani Poni Dash - This one makes a lot of references to other anime titles, movies, video games and is a very funny show.  I would recommend it too.

There are a few others, but these are like my top favorites.

My two favorites ever are easy enough to think of, and both of which have already been mentioned... those being Princess Mononke and Escaflowne.

The first time I saw Mononoke was, amusingly, on a tape a friend let me borrow that had the last couple fansubbed episodes of the second season of Rayearth.  It was the first time I had seen a Miyazaki movie, and I LOVED it.  So much so that I took a bunch of friends who wanted to see it on a 3 hour drive up to Seattle when it was released in theaters :)  I've since seen all of Miyazaki's other moves, several of which I like quite a lot, though none as much as Mononoke.

Now, Escaflowne... Mmm, I *almost* like this one more than Rayearth.  I love the story, characters, and everything else :)  I suppose there were a few things I didn't particularly care for (parts of the last couple of episodes, a character or two), but on the whole, definately something I think everyone needs to see.  And the music... ah, easily my favorite anime soundtrack, or soundtrack in general, that I can think of.  If only the movie had been better, and had done something else rather than just trying to retell the same story in 90 minutes, but at least it also had incredible music!

Other than that... Crest of the Stars, and Banner of the Stars, come to mind.  Generally quite good with well done characters, though they do tend to spout out quite a bit of techno-babble at times.

Ooooh, I forgot Crest of the Stars....Lafiel love!

Okay! Ai's back from State. x3 Fuuuun.

As for other animes that I love .. I strongly agree with Hagane no Renkinjutsushi. That's the home of many of my other OTPs, and I'm still cheering for deeper looks into the characters and their relationships in the manga, as well as the usual action/adventure and alchemy. :3

Spiral. Really, I have not many reasons for loving this anime. I just do. xD It keeps me guessing, I suppose. That could be a reason. You have a lot of fun trying to figure out who did what. Mystery anime. -thumbs up-

InuYasha. I thought that I was finished with this series years ago. However, I can't stay away from the Miroku/Sango pairing. xD; Anyway, while the series in itself has it's flaws, there are also a lot of points in which I continue to be amazed.

Sailor Moon. Who DOSEN'T love this series? x3 I'm still a gigantic fan of Tomoe Hotaru and Aino Minako. x3 Oh, and Artemis, Luna, and Diana. Much love to the kitties.

Tenchi Universe is my favorite of the Tenchi series. ^^ I don't know why, exactly. I just know that I find it hilarious that a family of guys is living with a bunch of alien girls in a house, and all of the girls are hitting on the youngest of the males. xD It's cute. Adorable. Yup. x3 Aside from that, there are some points to the series that make you really stop and think about aspects of life in general. The episode entitled No Need For Memories, for example.

There are so many more, but I can't think of 'em at the moment. XD;

I can pretty much echo everything suzanami said - our tastes run quite similar in the anime/manga department. But I'll try to add some of my own comments, har.

I'm not sure that Escaflowne is actually my favorite, but it's the best anime I've ever seen. It has a presence and a power to it that draws the viewer in so intensely; the art is beautiful and the music is absolutely stunning; and the characters, oh good heavens. The characters in this series are so, so real and complex and rich and textured that it drives me crazy. They are dynamic, living people with dynamic, real relationships, and I absolutely love that. Not to mention the pacing is perfect. The show doesn't dawdle around and waste time, but rather takes care of the story in just as much time as is necessary. And sweet mother of mercy, few anime have broken my heart as many times as this one has. (And if it can break your heart, you know it's good.)

Ashita no Nadja is just a beautiful, beautiful little story. The anime definitely has its share of fillers, and there were times when I wished we'd just get on with the story, but even the filler episodes are enjoyable because the cast is so enjoyable. I don't believe I've ever encountered a cast of characters that works together as wonderfully and seamlessly as this one does. And once the plot picks up around the middle of the series, there's hardly any time to breathe. Nadja broke my heart and filled me with such soaring excitement at least as much as Escaflowne, and I spent the better part of the last two episodes in tears. This is another stunning series which throws out twists and surprises like crazy, and I adore it.

Tenchi Muyo!, the OVA version, is my favorite of the Tenchi series. To me, the characters are at their best here. They seem far more real and intricate - Tenchi isn't as much of a jerk as in the other series, Aeka's a far more sympathetic character, and the backstories of Ryoko, Washuu, Sasami, and Mihoshi are far more interesting and detailed. I love the character relationships, I love the history, I love the interactions. I just wish they'd finish the darn thing.

Thought I might finally throw my Two cents  in about my other Anime loves that I cheat on Rayearth with.

Witch Hunter Robin  This is my second favorite. Rayearth trumps everything, but Robin is pretty awsome.  I mean, if you could set things on fire with your eyes, you know you would.  I love the story line and this fandom also had two wonderful fanfiction authors that pic up where the series leaves off.  If only they would go and finish their damn fics.

Inuyasha I also love this series for some cracked out reason.  I own the entire thing on bootleg VCD's but have never finished watching it. >.< I just haven't had time, what with my jobs and school and Rayearth addiction, Inuyasha just doesn't get the love it should.

And just about anything else I have read or watched by CLAMP, I have loved. Miyuki-chan in Wonderland was justa bit odd for me so I gave my DVD to my friend Akio because I know it will get more love there.   I am currently working on my first DVD of RG Veda, but I still have that same problem I do with IY. I just don't have all of the time to devote to it as I should.  >.<

Um .. hmm. Now that I have the energy to actually stop and think about this a little more ..

I really, really like Chrno Crusade. That's probably near the top of my favorites list at the moment. XD I do prefer the manga to the anime, as with Hagane no Renkinjutsushi, however, the anime amazes me in so many ways as well. My major OTP for this series is Joshua/Azmaria, and people in the Chrno Crusade section of ff.net practically worship me for my Joshua/Azmaria fanfiction .. xD; contrary to the usual Chrno/Rosette pairing that everyone admires. More to the point of why I love this series, though, It's just too damn beautiful NOT to love. xD The theme of 'time' in this series really, REALLY serves it's purpose in making people stop and think for a moment about how short life really is, and how any day could be your last; Also, it makes people realize that living every day to the fullest is a must, for you'll never get another life like the one you have now ever again.

Also, I love Outlaw Star. It's been years since I've seen it, mind you, but from the first episode I saw of it, I was entranced. XD I don't think I have anything meaningful to actually say about the series, but I do know that what I saw of it, I was in love with. XD

And of course, Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT will always have a place in my heart. ^^ TOILET PAPER PAIRING FOR LIFE! x3 (Toilet Paper > T/P > Truks/Pan. Get it? x3)

More later. :3

I guess the reason that I'm always so 'RAYEARTH NEEDS MORE LOVE' is because I come from two HUGE fandoms.

I'm one of the thousand of Inuyasha fangirls. <3 It was the first anime that I ever really got into. To me, it's just one of those shows that you have to at least like, and I don't understand those people that hate it. T_T;; I like some crack!pairings! in there too. KagSess, anyone?

I'm also a dorky YGO fan. I used to watch in with my little bro. ^_^ Even more bishies than IY. I swear, the entire male cast is teh smex. For YGO, I'm a slash lover; pretty much any pairing.

At the moment, I'm also into Excel Saga. It amuses me to know end, and I am is <3 with Lord Il Pallazzo. Crap, I can't remember if that's how you spell his name! *braindead bad fangirl*

I've read/watched a bunch others, but nothing that I loved.

Unfortunately, I can't share in most of your love for Escaflowne 'coz I've never watched it... Don't kill me!!! Trust me, I've wanted to, really I have. I just can't get a hold of a copy anywhere!!!! ARGH! The frustration!

Anyway, I have this thing for Yuu Watase's works, particularly Fushigi Yuugi (a.k.a. Curious Play -coughsbadtranslationcoughs-). It was the first ever fandom I really got into so... :D Haha, sure it seems like you're average drama with a magical twist and all, but I just liked it. Beats me why. :P Yuu Watase's other work, Ayashi no Ceres, is good too. It tells the legend of the "star maidens" with a bit of extra stuff along the way.

I like Arina Tanemura's works too! My friend was the one who first introduced me to her work and I like it a lot! I LOVE KAMIKAZE KAITOU JEANNE!! Oh gosh, that is one of my fave mangas! I read the scanlations of the manga and I fell in love with it! It's a story of a girl who is the reincarnation of Jeanne d' Arc and "steals" any beautiful art piece in order to get rid of the demons in it. It's a religious-y story, but I love the way it portrays strength and courage. ^__^ Arina Tanemura's other work, Full Moon o Sagashite, is good too. I've only watched a few eps but I've finished the manga (scanlations :P) and it's all right, but I'm partial to KKJ. The music is good though.

Hmm... what else? I can't seem to think of anything else right now. Haha, I'll add more when I think of it. Btw, just to point out, did you guys notice that we aren't only giving out our fave animes/mangas, but we're also giving like full-length reviews on them. :P Haha, nothing, it just amuses me really.

ok, I mostly love other series *blush* I've only seen Rayearth one time and of Rayearth 2 I've never seen, um . . . 8 episodes . . . *sigh* I need to get the DVDs.

Let's see, I LOVE Sailor Moon (please, no dubs) and Pretear and Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star and Metal Gear Panic.  Right now I'm watching Witch Hunter Robin and I'm loving it so far!

Other than that I've mostly been watching movies like Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away and Garvey's Wing.

Ok, enough from me!

Sailor Moon --> I`ve to stat saying that I LOVE Sailor Moon. It was the first anime I saw and the first manga I bought. I love the pairing Usagi-Mamoru, but sometimes I think he was cold with her (at least in the anime)^^.
I think it`s a wonderfull story, and I like all the characters! Have you seen the Japanese LiveAction???  Ii`s amazing! The actress that plays Usagi is very very funny. I like it because it showed different places of Tokyo and of course it`s in japanese (with sub in english). You HAVE to see it!!
I wonder if there`s some liveaction of Rayearth??

Dragon Ball --> I`ve seen almost all the episodes. I even had a few books of it (there are too many to buy all of them). It was one of my favorites too.

Captain Tsubasa--> How I love Tsubasa! <3  and I love football!! (Here in Argentina it`s the main sport). I watched the episodes because I wanted that Sanae and Tsubasa made a couple!! It`s never showed in the anime, but some years later I discovered that in the manga they are!! They are so lovely....

Ramna 1/2 --> It`s a funny anime, and I like how the relationship of Ranma and Akane grows with the time. I`ve all the episodes and the manga. I recomended if you haven`t watched it.

Oh my Goodess--> It`s so sweet.....I can`t tell more

Marmalade Boy--> After Fuu and Ferio of course,  I think Yuu and Miki are the most beautifull couple. And this anime had a wonderfull soundtrack. (I think that is one of the best, for me)

Ayashi no Ceres --> a drama, a very good story....I cried soo much!!

I think I don`t forget anyone of the most important animes or manga I`ve watche
Rayearth always will have a special part of my heart. <3

hum...

I really liked Fushigi Yuugi - 'young girl' goes back in time drama (harem style).

Right now though I've found myself to be fond of Host club and a new anime called Saiunkoku Monogatari.

Saiunkoku Monogatari... humm... girl marries emporer of China trying to save him while aquiring 500 gold coins. Thinks the emporer likes guys so shes not worried about falling in love with him while it looks like the emporer is really falling in love with her. >.<  Sorry only ep3 is out in torrents.

Has anyone seen Twelve Kingdoms? I absolutely love this one as well... lol its another sort of drawn into another magical realm anime but with the semi political manuvering and seriousness sometimes as Gundam Wing had. But I think this is a little better in the way it was brought about. ^.^

*joining the fun*

Hee, I could list series forever on this. XD I tend to go for the manga more than the anime - I'm a bookworm, love the art, and it's cheaper. XD; (Also easier to import in english - books have no region coding. *loves books* Though I am in the same region as Japan...) I also tend to lean towards shounenai. XD; I'll read anything, though. shoujo, shounen...

So. First, anything by CLAMP, especially Angelic Layer, Chobits, xxxHolic, Tokyo Babylon and Clover. ^^; (of which I can't find the first volume. T_T) Rayearth is my favourite, though. XD <3

Then... probably DNAngel, by Yukiru Sugisaki, and her Lagoon Engine. I love her style. <3 (Unfortunetly, she has a bad habit of not finishing her series. At least, not yet. >.> )

This is probably where I admit my first anime love was Digimon s1. XD; And that won't ever leave me properly. ^^;

Umm... Hagane no renkinjitsu is also brilliant. (anime - not seen much of the manga.) Had a bizzare weekend once at London Expo cosplaying Ed and working on the Manga stall, when I had three Daleks sent after me. XD; (One of the people I was there with got to know the controllers. T'was fun!)

Then Saiyuki I also like. ^^ (I have a soft spot for dragons... Jeepu!)  And Pretear - though I'm sure they borrowed half the character designs from Rayearth. ^^; (And have a worrying tendancy to think Goh/Mannen would work. O.o)

Borrowed Witch Hunter Robin from a friend and marathoned it in a few days - I liked it a lot, but didn't take all that much in. XD; I'll borrow it again soon.

Then I like both 'Full Moon wo Sagashite' and 'Kamikaze kaitou Jeanne', both the anime and manga, though they have a habit of keeping me up until 6am and making me cry. Constantly. ^^;

I like Naruto - in large chunks. ^^; My brother buys it, and I typically read 3 volumes at a go, otherwise the slowness begins to grate on me. ^^;

Last thing off the top of my ead that stands out would be Vampire Game - one of the Korean manwha Tokyopop is also releasing. Ancient vampire reincarnated as a fuzzy cat-thing, prissy princess, cross dressing and mages and ASSASSINS fantasy-world politics. Unfortunetly, my little brother has dibs on that, too, and it's taking him an age to buy it. >.>

...I'll stop this disjointed post before it gets any worse. ^^; sorry, being allowed back on the net's gone to my head.

I CONCUR. <3

As for my Hagane no Renkinjutsushi love-status, MY OTP FOR THE SERIES HAS CHANGED. YES. YOU HEARD RIGHT.

I've recently been getting more and more into the manga, which means that I've been seeing the differences between the manga and the anime ... and I'm growing more and more aware of my dissappointment of the anime. xD Especially since the anime basically ... chopped up a bunch of different things the manga did and put it all together, then completely skipped out on the Xing Characters. Probably for fear of the series being too long, and the extra money to pay the VAs and yadda yadda.

The manga-only characters of Hagaren have REALLY captured my heart, yaay. <3 I looooove Ling and Ran Fan, and Mei is just too adorable. XD And then, who could forget Fu, who plays a part in the rescuing of one of my most loved characters in the story? ^^

Yeah. I could (and do) spoil people with talk of the Hagaren manga. It's horrible. xD

Pretear was really really awesome. The opening song is just ... wow. You should give it a try. The anime is really short (I think it was something like 12 eps?) but you get it all within the small number of episodes. ^.^

Currently I've been watching a Juuki like show called Suiakoku Monogari (Spelling is probably way off) that has my type of shoujo. ^.^squeeedom.

Oh Pretear...it sucked because I got that one from Netflix and none of my family likes anime...so each disc came in long gaps...

But the Kei dolls!  <3

And...I really liked the plant pretear costume, although she never wore it for some inexplicable reason...so much wanting to cosplay in that series.

I love love love Sailor Moon anime! I've watched all the episodes and all the movies and omg I just love 'em. Naoko Takeuchi is genius! My favourite senshi is Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus, and I love all the magical cats. : ) The last season, Sailor Stars is perfect. : ) I'd love to read the manga too.<3 Omgomgomg Tsukino Usagiii. :D I don't like Mamoru though, he is so dull. And I hate all the copies of Sailor Moon such as Wedding Peach. (Sailor Moon is not a copy of Cutey Honey, ok??)

And the other obsession of mine is Magic Knight Rayearth. But you knew it already.

*Angst* You hate me. :(

... haha, anymore, my other fandoms of love are Bioware video games... but here are other anime/manga I love to death:

- Martian Successor Nadesico - CRACK, but with a serious plot as it goes on.  Also has a MKR-type twist, which I hope isn't spoiling too much, and it's the reason why I love the series so much, even if my favorite character had to go and die in the fourth episode of 26.   >:(  Its humor is based on parodies of anime and sci-fi things, and here's another series where the side characters are my favorite.  ^^;
(And this is one of the few series where I like the anime more than the manga.  Manga is too... bleh... but the anime is LOVE.)

- Get Backers - LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.  I'm not too into the fandom anymore but I still love it with all my heart.  I haven't read much of the manga, but the anime is great, and my opinion is formed on the anime.  LOVE IT.

- FAKE - like cheesy yaoi?  Like utterly predictable and cheesy detective stories?  How does two gay New York cops sound to you?  Then FAKE is for you!  Ironically, my favorite couples are the het ones (Berkeley/Diana and Bikky/Carol), and my favorite character is the freakin' woman of the bunch (Diana is a BAMF), but still.  I like.  Has its fair share of crack and wangst and violence and sexiness.  The art takes a while to get used to, but once you get used to it, <3!

- Prince of Tennis - my long ago crack!fandom.  Kinda stopped watching once it started to deviate too much from the manga, and stopped reading the manga when my grandmother quit sending me new volumes.  And so, I'm way out of the loop with this fandom now.  Funny thing is, I got into it because I thought that one of the characters, Momoshiro, was like a teenage!Geo.  Go figure.  I'm way too predictable.

Sailor Moon-My first anime..got into it because of the Nephrite x Naru pairing...am so pissed that he was killed off..hope he gets justice in this new anime.

Rurouni Kenshin-love watching the sword fights and Kenshin is real sweet..also there were some funny episodes

Fushigi Yuugi-When I first saw it I thought it was the most hilarious anime with Miaka being your typical ditzy main character for shojo..plus it was an anime where I wanted to know what will happen next.

Yu-gi-oh! Duel Monsters-very nice storyline and I love watching some of the monsters brawl, as well as learning background stories from the characters and some episodes touched my heart

Fruits Basket-Pretty funny and cute anime..

Witch Hunter Robin-nice animation style and I like the characters...it was interesting to see how their mission started as capturing witches only to discover the hunters had different objectives.

The very first anime I am madly in love with is saint seiya! I can stay in love with things forever, I was 11 when I first saw it, to this day I am still watching it, and it still got an active fandom in China.

Then came Sailor Moon, Yu Yu hakusho, Ranma and then Rayearth and Card Captor, X1999 and RG Veda, the anime and manga from the 90s are the best.
The more recent obsession was Angel Sanctuary and Earl Cain by Kaori Yuki. I was obsessed with it during the 2000s.

I would love to check our Ouran High School Host Club if I got the time.

I am spamming the forum right now!

I suddenly have a desire to check out Pretear, I saw some clips from youtube and fell in love with it immediately had anyone watched it?

Is it just me? I think the heroine, Himeno, looks like Hikaru Shidou, Hayate, the knight of Wind looks a lot like Zagato minus the headpiece and Sasame, the Knight of Sound looks a lot like Eagle Vision.

I am wondering if Himeno, Hayate and Sasame are expies of Hikaru, Zagato and Eagle?

Himeno is a genki girl, Hayate is mysterious and stern, Sasame appears to be a very nice guy, the personality kind of match too.

Pretear is ENTIRELY a game of spot-the-Rayearth-character-design. :D *waves at Mannen, waves at Clef.* Watched it with anime club in Uni and that was one of the things which made me start giggling about once a minute~

*cough* the, um, transformation sequences had us ALL laughing. (..........we were a very mature bunch, yep, yep. XD) (Also we were watching it back to back with Rahxephon and Elfen Leid, I think? Unless we were onto RoD the TV by then... might have been......)

Ooooooh! How come I forgot to mention the transformation sequence! I was really embarrassed when Himeno and Hayate turn naked and also that expression on Himeno's face as she took up the knight's powers.

Then all the focus on the naked girl...why can't they stick to something like bestowing powers using a staff?????

I LOVE PRETEAR.  I haven't watched it in years but I've been meaning to do a rewatch sometime soon.  I thought it would be very trite and boring but I couldn't believe how much it made me FEEL.

Great to meet another Pretear fan! I could really identify with Himeno when she felt she was uneeded and Mawata really needs a hug, when I saw her isolating herself.

*Dodges all of the Pretear love, with idea to contribute later, but anyways...*

I generally stick to shoujo but there's some action and other assorted genre stuck in the melting pot that is my brain...

Naruto- It was my first anime,(which I'm proud to say) and it certainly has stayed with me over the years, but I do think that I liked it better when it wasn't as large and angry of a fandom though... ^^;

Kuroshitsuji- I mainly got into Kuro for a friend recommended it, and man was that the right move. This series has the darker and mysterious theme that makes for a good show, if you don't mind the gore... Along with assorted plot twists that make for an interesting and thrilling watch(and or read) yet it can also be comical, so all in all I'd say it's pretty well versed.

Code Geass- ONE THING. CLAMP'S ARTWORK! It's really pretty and entertaining, but man the angst killed me and it has never left, it's a reoccurring issue... But yes, this show is a mecha series, yet it doesn't focus solely on that. The character's intertwining relationships is what overall hooked me.

Death Note- If you could kill anyone that you didn't like, admit it you would, just once.... The mystery and thrill of figuring everything out and guessing how it all would work out was my main focus... The characters are all pretty great though as well, they're each so different yet they all make the show so more interesting...

OHSHC- Love for this has already appeared on this post, but I agree that it's funny and cute and feelsy and great~

Kalideo Star- Mainly this show is really really uplifting and happy-go-lucky~ Nothing bad ever happens! Yet it's also really inspiring for it talks about following your dreams, no matter how far fetched they may seem!

Plus almost all of CLAMP works mainly Rayearth, Tsubasa, Kabato, and Angelic Layer because they are all gorgeous and really well done, and mainly fluffy (I apparently tend to stick to those).

(There are also more animes but I'll stop here for now.)

I am hooked onto another manga: the wallflower. Ever since I installed am manga reading app in my phone.

I actually hate to read manga online, but space is limited in hk.

That manga is really funny with the beautiful but scary girl Sunako and the 4 hot guys who are constantly hunted down by girls!

I just re-read W Juliet (well the last 7 volumes, at least) and am in a current JADIOSAFJDL?Kjsd?aFEELINGS mood. This is such a great manga. It's intolerably cute and heartwarming and it makes me cry more often than not and the supporting characters are so much appreciated and the author makes an effort to develop them so nicely that ugiughuidhfusiafhadygf I'm back to typeventilating.

This is a list of some of my favourite manga/anime/comics besides MKR...

- Sailor Moon. OMG. I can't even describe how much I love it and how much it means to me... I'm a huge fan of Sailor Moon since I was a child... so much nostalgia :'( Even if the anime is quite different from the manga, I absolutely love it ( and sometimes it makes me cry a lot). I think that there are too many filler episodes though... The final episodes of each series are just wonderful. I want to rewatch it again!
I've read the manga about 4 years ago, and it's simply amazing. I found out that Tuxedo Kamen actually has powers - in the anime he does nothing but throw a rose and say some kind of moralistic sentences to the enemies, while the senshis are about to die.
As a child, my favourite senhis were Mercury and Venus <3 But then I fell in love with Pluto and Saturn too! And Uranus+Neptune, what an amazing couple. (Of course, my TV had censored their relationship XD)
Ok, I just love them all *-*
I like the Sailor Starlights too! (even if they're a bit "weird" XD)
I had a crush on Yaten and Prince Diamond.
I'm watching Sailor Moon Crystal, so I've become addicted to this series once more!
Thank you Naoko Takeuchi for having created Sailor Moon...
Sailor Moon and MKR have taught us that girls can fight and save the world. Without the need of a prince.

- Dragonball: I was obsessed with this anime when I was a child! I didn't like Dragonball GT so much (I've never finished to watch all the series... I think Pan it's quite boring)... on the other hand, I love Dragonball Z. I love the first series as well, but maybe Dragonball Z is the one I love most...

- Saint Seiya... I love Greek mythology! I watched some episodes of the anime in my childhood and I read the manga some years ago. I loved it (even if the drawings are much better in the animated version). Hyoga and Shiryu have always been my favourite saints.
The Sanctuary and Hades cycles are the best ones for me... especially Sanctuary (because of the anime!).

- CLAMP series: Chobits (I love it... I love the plot and the characters... It's so deep, and very sad sometimes), Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (Sakura and Syaoran are sooo cute! Their love is so pure! But I love Kurogane and Fay as well...), XxxHolic (because Yuuko is the best. One of my favourite characters EVER), Card Captor Sakura (even if the manga is a bit "weird" sometimes... i mean, a relationship between a teacher and a 10-year-old child? Seriously?)... I love and hate CLAMP at the same time. But I'll never stop to thank them. They are geniuses.

- Death Note. The plot, the characters, the atmosphere, the drawings, everything is perfect. The anime soundtrack is beautiful as well.

- F, by Noboru Rokuda. I've read the anime some years ago and I was almost shcked by its beauty. The plot is fantastic. It's not just about Formula One races... it's more philosophical. I can talk about it for hours.

- This is not a manga, but a comic by Neil Gaiman: Sandman. Maybe it's my favourite among all the comics/manga I've read so far. Just read it. It's a masterpiece!

- I adore Alan Moore's graphic novels: V for Vendetta and Watchmen. The movies are pretty good, but the graphic novels... they are sublime.

Dear Ithil:

May I high five with you? I am over the moon to have met another Rayearth Fan who also likes Saint Seiya! There are not many people I know who happens to like both of my favorites works!

I fell in love with Saint Seiya when I was 12, but was not allowed to watch it because of the violence, I am still obsessed with it after 22 years.

My favorite characters are of course, the 5 protagonists and the Gold Saints and Athena, Hades, Poseidon, Hilda and Freya too.

Hope to hear from you again!.

It's super nice to know that I'm not alone in my sailor moon love XD So many people here seem to have loved it. Jupiter, Chibi Moon and Uranus are my loves of the sailor senshi! I've even written fic for BSSM before, though it's currely long lost, sadly.

I didn't like the Starlights as much, but that's just me.

Crystal is awesome, I really need to get caught up though....

Dragon Ball: My love from my teen years and currently something I'm reaquainting myself with now. If it makes you feel any better, GT is kind of not that well loved among a lot of the fans. I, myself, tend to chose to ignore it. Do you have a favorite character? Goku is mine XD

Hi, Antoinette!
Thank you for having answered me! I LOVE SAINT SEIYA, I was Saint Seiya-addicted about 4/5 years ago... I should rewatch the anime - I'm sure I'd become obsessed with it again XD
I love the Gold Saints as well (especially Camus, because I'm an Aquarius  :D), and Athena, Hilda, Shaina and Pandora.

Hello, Pixie! You're definetely not alone in your Sailor Moon love! I think I'll never stop to love that manga and anime...

With regard to Dragon Ball: I like Goku so much! I think my favourite characters are Trunks, Goku and Bulma (because she's not just a pretty girl, she's very clever and badass! XD)  :D

Thanks! I'm quite pleased with my sig and ava too~ XD I'm glad you like them~

Dear Ithil:

I didn't realize you replied me until now.  :P. Thank you so much! I feel rather alone because there are so few people who are  fan of both my favorite shows.

I am a capricorn but I am not a big fan of Shura, I have a crush on Saga, but forgot to mention it.

Have you by any chance listened to Los Guardianes del Universo? It was the opening for SS in Latin America. I stumbled across it on youtube and it has became an earworm for me, i listened to it on youtube over 100 times.

Antoinette, sorry for being late! I think I just have realized you replied me now! :o That's so weird, ahah!
Don't worry, you're not alone! You can share your Saint Seya obsession with me!:D
I do have a crush on Saga too - I completely understand you. My first crushes were Hyoga and Shiryu - I think they will always be my favourite saints.
Just listened to Los Guardianes del Universo - I can understand part of the lyrics, I feel so proud!:D
The Italian name for Saint Seiya was "I cavalieri dello Zodiaco"... you can find all the openings on youtube. I feel so nostalgic now! :'(

I am currently obsessed with Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue. The art is wonderful, the plot is great and the characters are just awesome. I highly recommend it.
