If not Autozam folks (which is a good call), I'd go with Presea. Yeah, she gets kind of befuddled by Earth stuff (mostly I'm vaguely recalling the confusion about money when she first meets the Knights) but I think she's very sharp and also very innately curious, and I think she'd be a fast learner who soaks in new information and culture as rapidly as possible. She'd probably always be, like, "weird aunt Presea" or what-you-like, like I don't see her blending seamlessly into Earth life, but I think it'd be a much more comfortable process for her than for many other characters. (Ferio would probably do okay too; he's a highly adaptable dude.)

Next: Which Cephiran character do you think would mostly likely turn into the kind of person who loves thunderstorms if they had normal Earth-style exposure to them?

Resurrecting this month-old thread to squeal about how much I LOVE this concept and now I want to write Rayearth fic again so I can incorporate stuff like this holy cow.

I'm just imagining these women decades in the future (because I can't help but feel that they end up living out their lives in Cephiro, ultimately, one way or another on the Earth side of things but ultimately they live out their days in Cephiro) as these awesomely powerful beings in their own right. Like, Fuu could probably levitate herself and maybe fly (after, as I said, decades of both training/studying and also just living in Cephiro). Maybe being a weather-reader, being able to feel the changes in air pressure. Having less ease thinking of equivalents for Umi and Hikaru but like god, can you imagine?

This is SUCH a good theory. As well as your earlier comment that certain symbols might indicate magic being woven into the text.

It's not something I've really hammered out, but I like the idea of magic being infused into a lot of things in Cephiro. It's a land where will determines all, and in that sense I think everyone in Cephiro has magic in them. Maybe not the controlled, deliberate, spell-based flashy kind we see many of our main characters use, but magic of a sort. And for Cephrians as a people, to infuse their writings, stories, and more with some of that magic is like... maybe just often an intuitive thing? But especially in their writing, now that I've read this thread. Like the magic is there - why not thread it into written documents and stories?

I love this thread 'cause I have  problem (see: not an actual problem) where I can't seem to ship Hikaru in any monogamous ship except Hikaru/Zazu (and that's mostly for funsies and not too serious). It's either Hikaru/Eagle/Lantis or knightshipping when it comes to her. UGH I LOVE IT. <3

...also in my Fuu/Umi/Ferio verse I have Umi still undecided about Clef vs Ascot and I think I'd do the same here, because that'd be a gross disservice to Umi too, making her a cheat.  also then I don't have to pick one or the other as I tend to be apathetic about Umi's love life XD

Well there was the one-shot about Umi punishing herself in various self-harming ways (mostly deliberately restricting her sleep) as penance for killing Emeraude and Zagato, that wasn't unnecessary or trying to be edgy or totally offensive in its portrayal of mental illness at all.

I definitely did not write a Fuurio set-in-this-world AU with a bad-online-translator-generated Japanese title where Fuu and Ferio were IN A COMMUNITY PLAY TOGETHER DIRECTED BY FERIO'S UNCLE that I'm pretty sure had some dumb misunderstanding that almost drove them apart but in the end they found love through their lines in the show or some dumb thing like that. (I also seriously did not do either of those sassypants justice.)

And then there's Standing on the Sky. Oh my god. We have:
1. Way too many original characters serving no real purpose (though I insisted they were important to the plot)
2. Antagonists with unclear motives and origins that never get cleared up
3. No plot planning at all leading to gaping plot holes and really shabby attempts at resolving issues in the narrative
4. Just peppered with weeaboo Japanese lingo
5. Really unnecessary levels of character death
6. God like seriously wtf did I do to Presea why was this fic a thing really
7. Also seriously Cerise's will was strong enough to keep the Knights stranded in Cephiro WHY WASN'T SHE FUCKN PILLAR THEN

Although I DID like the expansions into Cephiran culture/daily life I played with (it mostly had to do with food - I literally invented FIVE GODDAMNED CHARACTERS to support innumerable scenes of characters eating so I could blab about Cephiran food). And although I went pretty overboard, I do like that I was willing to venture into Main Character Death. Just... not in such a pointless and badly-written fic.

Soooo... am I the only one who wrote well-intentioned but terribly-written Rayearth fic years and years ago when I sucked as a writer and am now constantly paranoid our reestablished fandom here and on Tumblr has read any of it and wants to crawl in a hole somewhere?

*cough* Um, let's phrase this another way. If you were to rewrite any of your fics, what would you change and why?
