The truth, before I start, is that I can rarely picture Hikaru/Lantis without Eagle, even as a prospect (or... ghost? wait, don't wanna delve into that right now). So most Hikaru/Lantis solo action happen, to me, while Eagle is recovering. Also, it?s all after manga canon so it?s pretty much all headcanons.

From the start, I feel like they?ve taken an interest in getting to know the other. Not romantically whatsoever. Suddenly there was a mysterious man helping the Knights with a familiar voice? and shock! What the hell. They apologized to everyone they knew already and Lantis was a genuine sucker punch. So Hikaru does what she does and casually approaches him like ?hey I killed your brother?.

Now, I do think Lantis had some sort of morbid curiosity about the Magic Knights. I?m pretty sure he was filled into everything that happened before his meeting with Hikaru, so he had time to think. And of course he couldn?t blame them, he was too hurt by the circumstances ? he probably ran away because he was too afraid about what he would have to face, or the decisions he?d have to make regarding his brother and his own duty. So in the end, he couldn?t very well blame the girls, but Cephiro itself that not only had such a cruel system, it also required complete strangers to do the dirty work. Which is why I think he was very genuine in his speech to Hikaru, he truly believed the fault lied on the Pillar system.

Hikaru, on the other hand, felt a tremendous guilt, and a sort of responsibility to reach out to everyone who was left hurt with the process. So she had to apologize, there was no other alternative. And she truly felt there should be retribution of some sort ? that the people who suffered by the Knights? actions couldn?t all be so nice to them about it like Clef, Ferio and Presea. So in the end, their talk left both intrigued by the other. After some time, I believe she?d accept his words little by little, assuaging her guilt (if she reversed the situation, she?d probably also feel she didn?t need to forgive because the other person was also a victim). And by the end of the manga, I think their relationship was one of respect (remember when Hikaru was very adamant that Lafarga shouldn?t suspect Lantis? She already wouldn?t believe he?d be a traitor).

So after everything, they?d have time to actually get to know each other. In canon, it takes three years for Lantis to start really showing romantic affection towards her. I think this is very important, because it shows that Lantis didn?t love her from the very beginning. It also shows how they?ve all been healing together.

Of course I have WAY TO MANY FEELS about those two. And I think they shared a lot together, both were very invested in taking care of Eagle (and Lantis was specially thankful to her), both seem to be very curious and the adventurer type (Lantis did basically backpack around the other countries, you can?t convince me otherwise XD), meaning they?d probably went exploring new Cephiro together. 

Lantis eventually had to start facing his ISSUES, and that meant sorting through his probable self-hatred and feelings of shame and making amends ? he?d definitely have to make amends I mean Clef! Lantis might harbor a huge amount of guilt towards his master and his own behavior. The Lantis from Clef?s memories was definitely not as closed off (I believe he tends to be more gentle hearted overall), so I think it was all a bit of a fa?ade he adopted so that he could face going back and trying to end the Pillar system.

I don?t think he ever thought about going back to his position as Captain; he would be, however, very interested in aiding the reconstruction of the country. And I think it?d be a rather nice solution for him to accompany Hikaru around, because she?d also want to feel useful and connect to Cephiro?s citizens, learn its culture and really just gallivant around the land. (In the end he?d still the Pillar Guard of sorts? XD Hikaru would stubbornly do what she wants anyway, and so would he, probably, but it ended up being nice to accompany each other?). They?d spend years together, talking and helping restore Cephiro to their hearts content.

Other than that, the most I can think about them is that Lantis would be Hikaru?s first kiss. Hikaru would take years to finally go from ?I love this person like I love everybody else!? to probably getting the talk from Umi about how ?this is what romantic attraction feels like!?. But that?d actually happen around the time Eagle woke up anyway, so it?s really not strict Hikaru/Lantis territory. XD

I love this pairing, my otp.

What i find quite ironic is that he run away from Cephiro's problems but in the end of the day he had the same fate of his brother: falling in love with the pillar. Lmao Good for him that Hikaru is smarter than Emeraude though.
