What songs do you listen to when writing?

I was surfing through my playlist trying to figure out which songs would inspire me when writing. If when writing a Rayearth fic, should I listen to Rayearth related music or just something up beat when the thought struck my brain that other people probably do the same thing.

So what music inspires your fanfics (outside of song fics)?
Welcome to the Eagle Vision Show!

If I'm writing F/F, whether it's fluffy or not, I need ballads and other laid-back, romantic stuff.  I just can't write them to "Hit Me Baby One More Time" or "Breakfast" by the Newsboys. XP;

I like...Mozart.  Mary Chapin Carpenter's album "Between Here and Gone" is generally what I write to (be it academic essays or fic, seriously the lyrics by themselves are beautiful)...Simon and Garfunkle are always good, melancholy Irish music...Requiem Masses (Faure, Verdi, Mozart, etc.).

Uh...yeah, Sci is strange.
"We know what we are, but know not what we may be" ~ Hamlet -  Scene 4, Act 5

Most of my fics are inspired in part by songs, or I find songs that remind me of them.   Those are what i keep on my playlist.

"Try to Wish" is the ending song for the Ah My Goddess movie.  Ages ago I was going to write a prequel songfic to it, but is now the title for the re-write of that fic.

I can't think of anything in particular right now...

Sigur R?s are great to listen to whilst writing, because they're Icelandic and non of the words make sense, so I don't get distracted by the lyrics.
*short attention span*
Should have wished for unicorns.

I acctually keep associating the entire album Eyes Open by Snow Patrol with Umi/Clef, so this has meant a surge in my writing activity.  I am still adoring this album, even if Sci does not appreciate it as much as I.

So my list of writing inspiration right now is, Snow Patrol, Nightwish, Seether, Evanescence, Within Temptation

There are of course a few others but those are the most readily used by me.

I actually listen to some J-pop... but I don't know their names. Oh, actually I know one! Utada Hikaru's songs!

...the Dr Who ost? XD (picked out music from the last two seasons.)

I listen to a lot of ost-music when writing, actually. If I listen to anything that has words, I get distracted, and find myself following it a little too closely - so unless a character has a particular song they've latched on to, I'm pretty much restricted to ost tracks - I didn't managed to rip much of my classical music before I came to japan, or I'd be listening to that too. (my music taste is eclectic at best. XD)

I used to listen to japanese music too, but I can understand too much of it now. ^^; Between my scattered knowledge of japanese, german, latin, and some french,  I don't have all that much music in languages I can't understand one word in ten of, and it's distracting. >.> I sit there trying to figure out what the rest of it means. (On the other hand, this is why I adore songs like e nomine's 'wolfen, das tier in mir', because I couldn't translate it for anyone else come hell or high water - not the german, at least, though I could probably handle the latin - but I can understand it myself. Ans long as I don't try to put it into words. XD)

So the DNAngel music, Dr Who, Narnia and some of the Lord Of the Rings music is where I usually stay. ^^

i'm not very awake yet please ignore rambling

If i writed, I would listen to Underwater Sleeping Society, Sister Flo, Viola, Lady Escape, Magyar Posse, Bleak, Deep Insight, Poets Of The Fall, Disco Ensemble, White Flame and Bloodpit.  ;D Mokoma is good too. (Lol, almost Mokona!)
~~Because I want to see your smile~~

I listen to whatever suits the mood of the piece I am writing. I find the words come easier that way. There are whole playlists with names like 'love', 'angry' and 'sad' on my computer. At the moment i've managed to find loads of tracks from the final fantasy games which is pretty cool as most of them are centered around the character's moods and emotions.

Final Fantasy music = TOTALLY AWESOME. Nobuo Uematsu is seriously my hero!

A good portion of us just happen to be authors.  That is kind of how some of us met.

I am currently on the Housemartins and the Fratellis, but given that I am writing for my side fandom, I guess that doesn't count. ^.~

I have a new favorite band called Fahrenheit! And I'm listening to that :p

The taiwanese Fahrenheit? (There are two others that I've heard of...) If so, my friend and I just discovered them! (Through the taiwanese hana-kimi drama. XD)

I can't stop listening to MIROTIC by Dong Bang Shin Ki. XDDDD I've pre-ordered their newest album in the last hour, heeeeeeee. I'm trying to use the energy burst to type up more of the next chapter of Protecting you, which is, what, two years late by this point? ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Copious amounts of Snow Patrol, apparently.  Can't seem to get away from them. I think at least one song of theirs ends up on every single one of my playlists.

My current playlists for my fics have everything from Shirley Bassey to Seether on them.
