Talking about Physical Appearance (Random Thoughts 1.1)

Lots of questions suddenly popped out in my mind about Cephiro. It really is a fantasy world but somehow deep in our thoughts i knew you too have some questions about their world. Im not really looking for a right answer because i know i will never have it for sure. Maybe i was just looking for some logical answer, just opinion based answer because i think it would be interesting.

So lets begin the discussion with this topic "Physical Appearance". We all know that Cephiro is a land of will which you could actually will everything you want so you could have it and that includes their "Physical Appearance" for example Clef, Ascot, Emeraude etc. Having the appearance that doesnt match their age.

Im gonna post here some series of question related to the topic and ill put numbers to it so we will know which question you answerd. Okay?

1. Is every one in Cephiro capable of willing themselves to youth? Including the ordinary people like the villagers? Or its just only applicable to those who could uses magic?

2. If everyone (ordinary people/villagers) could will themselves to their youthful appearance why is that there are old people? I mean really, who would want to look old if you have the ability to be young.

3. Can a child will themselves to adulthood? (I was thinking of Ascot who instantly made himself adult)

4. Why do you think Emeraude and Clef chose to look like a child than a teen or on their mid-twenties?

5. Do you think everyone in Cephiro doesnt have the appearance that matches their age?

6. How about Caldina? She is mainly from Chizeta, is she also capable of willing herself to youth? Because she now lives in Cephiro.

I think i have to leave this question at #6 since i still got a lot more question with regards to "immortality"

Enjoy bursting your opinions here.  ^.^

Some elements of post have been discussed in Do Cephirans remain youthful in appearance until they die? You might want to go check that out. But this is an interesting topic and always fun to discuss from a new angle.

Like everything else in Cephiro, I think age appearance has a lot to do with will power.  How strong is that person's will? Just your average person, no, I don't think there is all that much variance on what they look like or how fast or slow they age.

The stronger someone's will, the stronger their ability to change their appearance.

Like Ferio. Ferio hasn't shown us that he has any magic ability, but I do think he has a very strong will. Not nearly as strong as say Clef or even Umi, but still strong enough that he is probably older than he looks. (Not a lot older, but still older)

Well, with age you gain a different level of respect in other places. I think it can go the other way in Cephiro. Someone who is very old, but able to hold a very young form would be considered to be a very powerful person in some ways.

I do think there are old villagers. I also think that Cephirans who could change their appearance when they were younger lose that ability when they are reaching a very old age, and or getting close to death (even if it is illness and not age that gets them)

How do their spawn grow? has more conversation about children growing, if you are interested.

I don't think Ascot changed instantly. It seems instant because, like the girls, we didn't see the time that passed in Cephiro between the end of MKR and the beginning of MKR 2. I feel like it could have been longer than it was for the girls. A few years even!

I do think that Ascot grew up faster than he probably should have. Mostly because a lot of things are happening and his outer appearance is probably a reflection of the maturity he has gained through his experiences. And I am not entirely sure I consider Ascot's form that of an adult so much as a teenager. Just a very tall (and a list gangly) teenager.  Maybe about 15-16-ish?  Which is getting into that grey area of when do you consider someone to be physically mature?

As I mentioned the above post, I don't think children have control over their appearance until they are somewhere between 3-5 years old. And even then, I don't think they can do much adjustment beyond their emotional maturity level. It would not be a good idea for a child to be able to take an adult form before they are ready to be an adult. That could lead to all sort of difficulties for them, especially in the fact it would leave them more open to exploitation. They can look a little older, or a little younger.

Ascot may have stayed smaller longer than usual because of his history. Emotional trauma can effect when you emotionally mature (either holding you back or thrusting you forward), thus could also have an effect on physical maturity.   So an emotionally safer space with Caldina and LaFarga, etc may have been what he needed to grow up to what he should have been...

4. Why do you think Emeraude and Clef chose to look like a child than a teen or on their mid-twenties?

I think Emeraude looked like a child for protection. It was probably thought that holding a child form would keep you from having adult feelings, so you couldn't fall in love. Which is a sensible thought if you are the pillar and not allowed to fall in love.

But it probably just keeps you from getting the physical responses, not the emotional ones. So you can still fall in love, but you won't want to sleep with that person.

I think Clef took the form in respect for the pillar holding it. I mean I have at least one fanon idea that he is also under some of the same rules and regulations as the pillar as far as love goes, so he thinks it a prudent choice for many of the same reasons. But even if that were not the case, it would be impolite for the person closest to the pillar to be in a relationship with someone when the pillar is not allowed.

There is an old thread (from the first year of this forum) where we started talking about Clef's choice: Why does clef stay in his small state?

Quote from: Eizme on October 25, 2017, 01:56:24 PM5. Do you think everyone in Cephiro doesn't have the appearance that matches their age?

I think for the most part (baring exceptionally strong willed people who hold the form of children for specific reasons) most people look the age their emotional maturity level dictates.

6. How about Caldina? She is mainly from Chizeta, is she also capable of willing herself to youth? Because she now lives in Cephiro.

Caldina has strong magic, but it is Chizetan magic.  I don't know exactly what her will power level would be, so I don't know if she would be able to change her age in the future.  At the moment, I don't think she is terribly old. maybe 25-30 in maturity level?

I haven't actually given it much thought.  Perhaps someone else might like to weigh in?

But most of all, what are your thoughts on the matter?

... Yes, that's all I came in here to say. (Might have more thoughts later, just catching up on everything)
If your headcanon for Ascot's backstory doesn't make me want to cry, I probably won't believe it.

Of course!  It's all your fault I now have more Ascot headcanons!
