I learnt something! Something I should probably have known, given the name...

fine bone china is actually made with bone in it.

...cool.

XD

Bone china is actually a type of porcelian. Real procelian is expensive because of the contents used to make it (rare materials/minerals), however most porcelian used to make things today is actually a gray porcelian which is completely CHEAP to make but they still sale it as the 'real deal'- i.e. the stuff that costs a leg and a arm. Just a little note for you all. (I used to throw with only porc on the wheel now I handbuild sculptural forms/with some throwing).

my class let out early today! woot.

Ragyn~ hee, thanks for the info. ^^ *fascinated*

Um. It's nearly 5am, and I'm not ready yet, and I havn't slept, at all, and I've got to get in a taxi at 7am to go to the airport to meet cousin's plane.

...

heh. Guess I'm going to be matching her in terms of sleep deprevation... XD;;; (Or being worse, if she managed to sleep on the plane...)

Some recipes for porc do include bone ash. Its a really really really white ash.
We also use stuff like borax and other semi and highly poisonus matter in glazes/clay bodies. Although interestingly enough once they are combined with the other minerals/matter and reach a certain temperture during firing they fuse together and become non-toxic. This is not a case, though, for glazes which contain lead. Lead is still sometimes used in glazes thats why you see "this item is not fit for food items" or some such sticker on some store bought pottery.

What made my day yesterday would be the chance to SLEEP, PROPERLY, for the first time in two weeks. XD; the Visiting Cousin was trying to fit in as much sight-seeing as possible, so we were getting to sleep about 1am and getting up at 8 for the first few days, and progressivly slept less and less until I got an hour on the last night...

I slept for FOURTEEN HOURS STRAIGHT yesterday. XDDD

and also new tsubasa chapter. *flails* the last two chapters? have had me swearing loudly in public as I read them. ^^; heh.

what made today: there are Man from U.N.C.L.E. episodes avaliable on aol videos to download for free, yay!
