Anything you notice from one of the episodes that we are watching that leads into something we haven't watched yet, goes here please.

I suppose I will start.  On my comment about Zagato being the perfect villain.  He seems so utterly evil, and yet his motive is keeping Emeraude safe from the magic knights because he doesn't want her to die. He loves her and selfishly wants her with him and will not let her sacrifice herself for the world she was entrusted to protect.

She even looks rightly terrified of him near the end of the episode when she asks if he he cares that Cephiro will be destroyed and he answered that he doesn't care at all.

About that flower prison - given Zagato's appearance as the Most Evil Villain Ever, I guess it might well be a hint that he didn't create the prison at all? Especially as he never actually goes to it to talk to Emeraude. I mean, which do you think more likely to make a Giant Flower Of Pinkness to hide people in? XD

And OH CLEF, YOU IDIOT. STATUE-Y IDIOT. ^^; I yell every time he gets turned to stone, but I guess it makes sense, because otherwise there's a very powerful mage who is apparently on Emeraude's side wandering the land doing nothing but occasionally advising the knights throughout the entire season. Given that Zagato et al are apparently worried by him enough that Alcione doesn't dare fight him head on, well. It stops us wondering why the hell he isn't trying to rescue Emeraude before we learn that he doesn't actually want either Emeraude or Zagato hurt, and is helping the knights while not agreeing with their having been summoned in the first place. In the manga it's less noticeable because it's so short, compared to the anime. Also it's more obvious that he really isn't telling them everything right from the start. (Even if he did tell them, what could they do? Emeraude is dictating the shape of this game, and either she wins and dies, or Cephiro dies with her, and Clef can't stop that while she's the pillar. Better that they struggle against their true task the whole way? No, not really.)

On the other hand, it makes it harder to write fic about Clef wandering about helping all the people and creatures of Cephiro and doing as little as possible to help Emeraude's aim which he is bound to, while still not wanting the Knights to be hurt by this, and... well. Emo Fic Of Doom! I have a soft spot for it. XD (Not tht I've ever tried to write this, noooooooooo...)

*restrains self from endless babble about Clef and his Doomy doomy DOOM. XD My obsession, so plain. XDD*

Haha, personally, after watching these episodes, I am shocked that no one has written a sort of re-write-ish kind of thing of the first season from Zagato's point of view.  I mean... that would be the COOLEST FIC EVER.  Seriously.  Manga-based, anime-based, what have you.

What's curious to me is how and why Zagato would send out his minions one-by-one to deal with the Magic Knights.  I mean, sending Alcione alone the first time made sense--they are just KIDS, after all, and at the time had just learned about their task and should have been no match for her.  But after that, especially in the middle?  Did Zagato really underestimate the Magic Knights the ENTIRE time?  Near the end he was running out of minions, sure, and only had brain-washed Lafarga... but... I don't know.  The first season from Zagato's point of view.  To explain EVERYTHING.  Would be.  You know.  Awesome.

I'd write it myself, but I think if I did, I'd make it into a multi-chapter fic and I just don't have the energy to do multi-chapter stuff anymore.  D:

And, yes, angsty!Clef about his POV during the first season would be one hell of a good read.  :D  Seriously, watching this first season here, and rereading the first half of the manga, yes.  I think I need my first-season kicks.  Fics about the legend and Zagato from Clef's POV, and Alcione's and... and... Ferio's!  And Presea's (even though she didn't know the truth... and I think Ferio only really knew in the manga about the legend since he knew the entire time in the manga he was Emeraude's brother... hehe, yeah, I've got a fic in the works that deals with the sibling relationship between Ferio and Emeraude.  Probably will be manga-based so that Ferio still has his memories and knows the about the legend and what not)

SRSLY.  WHY ARE THERE NO FICS ON FIRST SEASON THERE IS SO MUCH THERE OMG.

I actually wrote one.  It is quite Umi/Clef centric, but more a friendship fic than anything else.  I also have some workings of an Emeraude/Zagato fic.  It is a rather interesting sort of introspection.

And, Down, of course it was Emeraude who created the flower prison.   If I were a girly princess, of cours eI would lock myself up in bubble around a giant flower.  I don't think Zagato can get in if he tried.  In my opinion she is sealing herself off from the world around her as she is resigning herself to the only fate she can imagine, being slain by the magic knights.

I may have to go back and look at the manga again.  I do realize he is not telling them everything, but my difficulty of starting at the end of the first season, sort of lined it out for me to know that he was withholding information, so I never truely noticed if you could tell or not, as it was sort of implied.

Zagato's actions are rather worrisome.  His minions are either devoted to him, under his mind control, or being paid.  I think he was just using them for the mere purpose of delying the enevitable. Emeraude was going to die.  Sooner or later.  And there really was little he could do about it. I don't think he truely under estimated them. I believe he only convinced himself one was enough as he only had so many to spare.

Just SO DOOMY TOO. XD;;; I'd never manage to write it without, I don't know. Fifteen kittens in the room for cheering up, or something. (Or I could just watch JaeJoong and ChangMin of DBSG singing It's Raining Men, again and again and again, but I do that anyway and no one here knows who they are. XD)

The first time I read the first volume, I hit the panels where Clef looks away, face darkened, and went '.....huh. What are you not telling them?' (First guess, for the record, was that he was in love with Emeraude. XD;;; Though that I had decided probably not by the end of the chapter.) It's literally the strongest memory I have of that first reading, beyond the mad dash to amazon and my mother to order the rest of them when I hit the end of the book. XD I didn't guess it before I hit the revelation - which is fairly rare for me, but CLAMP are good at confusing me. (Of course, given their current work, this may be because CLAMP are MAD and so unpredictable. I FINALLY got tsubasa and holic to make sense to me on a thematic level a week or so ago. Other levels = still confused as hell. ^^;;;)

You know, I totally just got a revelation. You know, in the anime, Emeraude-hime's capture never added up. In the manga, she ended up sending herself in the watery dungeon, but in the anime she was "kidnapped" by Zagato with Lafarga hot on their tails. Yet the anime shows her in the watery dungeon rather than Zagato's castle. o.o;
