Finding a Boyfriend

Something I found myself wondering to day (as I was plotting U/C smut of course)....

Umi's Mother and Father talk about hoping she finds a handsome boyfriend, right?  I'm just wondering where they assume she's going to meet said boyfriend.  I mean, she goes to an all girls school from what we can tell.  All the extracurricular activities she seems to be involved in are all either school clubs or other groups that seem to also be all girls.

Where is she supposed to MEET this boyfriend, since I doubt she knows many boys. 

There is also the fact that she seems the most introverted of the three.  (If you take the OVA!Umi into consideration, she didn't even talk to Hikaru first, Fuu did.)  Yes, she'd likely be approached because she is gorgeous, but would she really want to talk to them?

Just saying.

Anyone have any theories for me?

I think it's some kind of parental thing in general.  Like, expecting you to get perfect grades and be in ten extracurriculars.  Even though you're never around boys we expect you to meet a wonderful one. *^.^*

Schools at Japan are bothgender, like you can see more reflected on Sakura's Card Captor, the thing is that MKR is not focused on their school lives, that is why we dont see them interacting with boys ^^ still her introverted side would affect her to make new relationships with boys.

Under that aparience of confidence hides a shy person, perhaps because she is only one daughter with not siblings and his family is wealthy, makes me think than people see her  far from the others around her, untouchable.

Well, we KNOW Hikaru's school is all girls, because one of her classmates says so in the manga.  In Fuu and Umi's school groups in both anime and manga there are ONLY girls.  This why I infer that all three girls must attend all-girl schools. 

I'm not saying school in Japan cannot be co-ed, I am just stating what facts I have seen so far and assume from there (but we do know what assuming gets you, yeah ? )

She does definitely put off a bit of an untouchable air, doesn't she.  That pose they give her when she gets her first close up sort of underlines it, doesn't it? Sweeping her hair back like that?

well then i will said this under my own experience, I when to girls school all my life and i did met boys xD no matter what, so thinking has a parent, a wealthy one xD maybe his mom could play matchmaker with the sons of friends? or wait until college, where her daughter definitely will have contact with men? dunno. but if I were her mom, i would definitely play matchmaker, hehehehe...

So i read in one of the old topics how someone would love to read something related to Ferio and Umi has Best friends, here is just a thought: two wealthy families, starting with, how Umi will find a boyfriend if she is in a girls school? like Milieva said ,easy the mothers would play mtachmaker introducing both children, being Ferio and Umi but what the parents whould not know is that they dont love each other in that way, only friendship, so they use this facade to date their real loved ones, being and older man for Umi (Clef) and a girl of middle class (Fuu).

That could be awesome, Suz.   I'm trying to fit the match making bit into my drinking buddy fic.  Umi and Ferio commiserating over a bottle of something, when they should be elsewhere.

It actually vaguely reminds me of an AU fic dinosaurjam started a bazillion years ago.  I'll have to ask her about the specifics of that one so I don't accidentally copy it. :|

Maybe her parents assumes she goes to goukons? Or that Umi met someone from one of her fencing tournaments? From what I know (or rather what my cousins tell me), if you're active in extracurriculars, especially sports, it's fairly easy to meet students from other schools.

That sounds logic too, there are lots of posibilites for her to meet boys outside school ^^  and yeah I support Down statement too!!
