Ferio's Scars

I've been contemplating Ferio's scars. They don't seem to be new wounds in the series, so I am assuming they happened before Cephiro starts crumbling, and all that nonsense.  Does anyone have any theories about where they came from? 

Monsters?  Sparring? Childhood stupidity?   

Thoughts?  I've got nothing.

I always figured it was probably monsters.  He's pretty skilled at fighting them and that takes experience.  Though I can imagine him in his younger years (10-13 Earth equivalent) picking fights with people before he figured out that didn't make him a big cool dude.  Just a brash upstart getting his ass kicked.

Hmmm and he also probably has scars elsewhere as well.

THOUGH I did think of another little headcanon about Ferio's scars on his face.  The criss-cross one.  It seems really unlikely that a monster would swipe at you in such a tidy way.  Either he:

• had one wound on his cheek that wasn't quite healed when, some days later, he got cut there again, or
• he got in a nasty fight with someone who was angry and strong enough to be able to pin him down long enough to give him a permanent scar, just to be a dick.

Yeah, that cross always makes me wonder.  The bridge of the nose is simple enough it makes sense, but the cross one... that is troubling.  Someone being a dick makes much sense.

AHEM. THEORIES! MOSTLY thin scars from sword training, and the occasional duel - fighting other people to entertain and as training seems like a thing which might happen in Cephiro? ^^ The scar on his nose I think - for WHATEVER REASON and I'm going to write it one day XD - that when he was very very small and thought swords were the COOLEST THINGS EVER and that he wanted to be a swordsperson! That there was someone in his life who WAS one, who he looked up to - maybe a parent, maybe a family friend or something - and one day he finds their sword and tries carrying it about (it's not Escudo, so no vanishing - even LaFarga was startled by that particular defense mechanism - and on an aside, did anyone else giggle in Skyfall at Bond getting the equivalent of an Escudo gun? XDD) and trips over it and bashes his face on the round or something, and gets the scar - while his family freaks out and scolds him, and he gets determined to grow up and be big enough to carry a sword already!

I think the scars on his cheek might be from early fights, probably against monsters, when his technique still has weaknesses - and one of them is his ability to defend in that direction, and that's how it happens twice in a short amount of time, and effectively turns into one scar. ^^

Ohhh, maybe he got hurt saving some villagers from monsters? He is a chivalrous young man.

Scars elsewhere? If he is always wondering around and there are monster that appears sometimes, he would have got injured easily in the arms, legs...etc. But he can always wear long sleeves.

In recent weeks I've established the headcanon that he has a bad one across his chest and lower back.  He has less serious-looking ones on his arms and legs, and general places where you'd get hit by monsters.
