I have this headcanon that some of Lafarga's hostility/suspicion/what-have-you with regards to Lantis stems purely from the fact that Lantis is Zagato's brother.

Basically, Lafarga still resents the fact that Zagato used a controlling spell on him, but since Zagato is dead, the resentment has shifted to the most closely related target, that being Lantis. The thing is, Lafarga doesn't know that he's harboring this resentment and since it ends up being channeled into his suspicions over why Lantis left Autozam to return to Cephiro, no one else realizes it either until Lafarga continues his hostility toward Lantis even after the whole mess with choosing a new Pillar is over.
Of course I'm normal...I'm 90 degrees off from the rest of the world.

Yes, I agree with literally everything that you've said. But, I'm going to add my thoughts, as well.

Okay! I believe that some of Lafarga's hate comes from the fact that Lantis spent so much time in Autozam and surrounding areas, when he should've been in Cephiro, helping piece the country together, he after all was still loyal to Emeraude and Clef. Lantis also shows almost no remorse after he returns, he doesn't seem to care that their beloved princess is dead, he doesn't weep or apologize to Clef or anything, not that Lafarga sees anyway... So, yes Lafarga hates on Lantis for many reasons, but I think that by the end of the series he's pretty much cool with everything since everyone is still alive, so Lantis is least of his problems.  :D

Aaaaah yes all of this is good, good!  Yeah, I really feel like Lafarga felt that Lantis didn't care.  Yet Lantis cared so so much.  I love the little relationships bouncing off each other in the background of the series...

It's funny because Lafarga isn't much more extroverted and expressive than Lantis is and YET.  I mean Lafarga does show worry/concern at least, but Lantis is just really introverted.

The thing with Lantis being Zagato's brother.

I guess when the whole truth came out, people won't blame Zagato that much.

I don't suppose Lantis would get despised for being Zagato's brother.

If they put themselves in Zagato's shoes, could they guarantee they wouldn't have doen the same?

I have a guess that Lafarga would harbour some animosity towards Lantis, simply that Lantis was the one who had the position of Captain of the Royal Guards, and Lafarga got the position after lantis disappeared.

Then Lantis came back and because he was the only Magic Swordsman of Cephiro, Lafarga would feel inferior next to him, and his presence could induce some hard feeling in Lafarga.

But of course Lafarga won't admit it, so he expressed this resentment in a more legitimate way, suspecting that Lantis was a mole for Autozam.

Hopefully their relationship would improve.
To love another person is to see the face of God.

Greater love got no man than he, who lay down his life for his friends.

Resentment isn't always rational, though. Also, I did say that Lafarga doesn't even know he feels this way - he would think he's being completely rational, at least until the whole mess with choosing a new Pillar was over.
