Eagle's mother

So we all know that Eagle's father is the president of Autozam, but what about his mother? What do you think her status is? Alive? Dead? Divorced? In the same eternal sleep Eagle was headed for?

RANDOMLY GENERATED HEADCANON: One of the top generals in the military. Eagle learned his tactics from her, when she was home, she's been away on long-term missions most of his life. She was two years out when he set out to invade Cephiro, on an expedition looking for other power sources for Autozam. (Because they would be searching far and wide, before Emeraude's fall gives them a chance which Eagle takes.)

The first she knows about it are the rumours among the crew that someone's found a way to fix Autozam with magic, and then there's an official communication sent to the whole fleet, stating that they have secured Cephiro's help towards developing a method of healing Autozam thanks to the efforts of Eagle - and that their missions are still essential because this is no magic immediate fix and everything they can find will help - and there's a private one from her husband, too, which she opens second, and it just says 'He's your son, after all. But he's healing. He should be awake by the time you get back.'

(Geo was one of her crew at 16, without the money to get to the Academy for any command training. He got his scars serving with her. He still doesn't know that she submitted a scholarship application for him, just that their tour came back and there was an acceptance letter for him 'based on your exemplary service and the skill demonstrated on your first voyage'. He entered the Academy the same year as Eagle, who sought him out in order to ask what his mother was like.) (Eagle guessed about the scholarship, when Geo mentioned it, nearly a year into their friendship. He never says anything to either Geo or his mother.)

((Zazu won himself a scholarship through sheer mechanical genius; he skipped out of high school to go through the Academy's accelerated program after his design and technology/mechanics teacher and his physics teacher jointly pushed him to take the entrance exam for engineers. He was in the same general history and tactics course as Geo, who adopted the kid who slouched at the back of the room drawing engine parts over his notes, on the theory that someone had to. But Zazu won his place on the NSX fair and square, in the same interview and testing procedure as every mechanic.) (Geo's never admitted to anyone but Eagle how relieved he was that Zazu would be where he could keep an eye on him.))

That is way more detailed than I expected any reply to be. Do you mind if I adopt this as part of my headcanon?

Also, I'm now imagining her sending an irate reply to the private message asking "What the hell do you mean by that?"

On another note, do you think that Eagle's father was the president of Autozam at the time Lantis first met Eagle?

Hee, feel free! I like infecting other people with random bits of headcanon spreading ideas I think could work to see what other people think instead?? Er. HAVE SOME MORE???

I think - about Eagle's father at the time he met Lantis - that it could be interesting if he was in the middle of an election/reelection campaign at the time - probably a reelection one. So Eagle's having to be particularly careful with how he presents himself to everyone, all the time, and the press mostly don't follow him about this time and he's old-hat at all this (probably it's a reelection), and rather wishes it was all over with - and everyone else is being cautious around him, either because they know it's going on and don't want to put him in any kind of awkward situation, or because they're trying to play politics of one sort or another with him, and he won't engage.

All except Geo, who knows Eagle better, and Zazu, who has his head buried in the NSX's engines most of the time and is talking about them the rest of it.

And then there's Lantis, and he doesn't care - it makes little difference to him, there's nothing in the policies which will effect him, he has no real attachment to Autozam. And it's... easy. Spending time showing him about, getting Zazu to help teach him how the mech work - and then Eagle puts together, from the things he says, that Lantis's brother holds a high position. (And that Lantis isn't that far off, really, but Zagato is in the public eye a lot more.) And it's... not the same, but in some ways it is. And he realises it's not so much that Lantis doesn't care, as that he understands and it doesn't... worry him. He can deal with it, just as calmly as he's dealling with all their technology.

And it's just... nice. Because then he knows he really can relax around Lantis, because Lantis isn't going to be caught off guard by any of this.

I like that idea better than I like what I was coming up with for that question. And actually, now that I think about it, some of what I was coming up with could actually be reworked to fit with that.

I'm actually asking all these questions because I'm toying with the idea of writing a fic centered around the start of Eagle and Lantis' friendship and don't really have much headcanon about that yet, so I want to see what other people think.

On that note, what's your headcanon about how Eagle and Lantis met. I've basically just adopted the anime's story of how it happened.
