Why isn't there an Earth knight?

This question has always been on my mind for a while, and it's why isn't there an Earth knight in MKR? I mean The four main elements are Water, Fire, Air, and Earth, so what made Clamp decide not to add the last knight? O.o... anyone care to explain???

From what I know, Fuu's elements also associate with Earth, just Wind moreso.  Her mashin Windam's beast form is a Phoenix, a creature that symbolizes rebirth, which relates to the earth, which brings forth new life.  Her coloring is green- very earthy.  And I don't know too much about the elements but I know that sometimes Air and Earth are associate with each other.

I've always wondered that as well, but lately it has come to annoy me.

It's okay, it's not your fault! *hugs*

The spastic fangirls have taken that question to heart and figured out that they their Mary-Sue's could be a fourth knight. Oh dear god, those fanfics make me TWITCH. Those fanfics are SO CLICHED. AHHH.

.... </end mini-rant>

I actually think that the idea of a fourth knight could be very intriguing, if the author could managed to avoid Mary Sues and other lovely cliched things.

*hugs*

I'm sorry if that sounded mean...

Mean?  pfft.  TRUE.

Wa la...I, I mean this person with a badly made Japanese name (or even better they make them from the U.S. ~_^  Never have figured that one out) goes and becomes the Earth Knight and is revealed through an old scroll found by Clef and then either saves the day (trumpets here!) or is the random Goddess of Destruction (Sailor Saturn anyone?)

I have trouble, due to countless cliches and horrific (scarring, abhorrent, utterly devestatingly terrible) characterization that a story could be done well with a fourth knight....but I suppose if could be an open challenge.

woooo!  /rant!

Any takers, now that I've scared you all?  ^_^

I have seen everything you just listed posted on ff.net within the last couple of weeks. *headdesk* Those were the ones that inspired my rant...

There was one about all three Knights being from the US, and another where they discovered the fourth Knight in an old scroll. Clef was all like, 'I have no idea why there is a fourth Knight and she wasn't summoned with you! Emeraude must have missed her or something!' and I was like T_T. It was yet ANOTHER moron!Clef fic. *twitch*

Tell you the depressing truth, Clef was probably more like, ' I hve no idea y ther is a 4 knight & she wasnt sumoned w/ u!' Emrade must have mised her r somthing!

Well, I have some useless knowledge that could, potentially, offer a reason as to why there is only 3 Magic Knights.

I think it deals with colors and part of the ending to the first season.  There's a red knight (Hikaru), a blue knight (Umi), and a green knight (Fuu).  You know how they do that Spiral Flash attack?  Their color attributes combine in the attack.  Well, when you deal with colors Red + Green + Blue = White.  You can't really add any other colors to that.  That's a part of what I learned in Physics.

That's my belief.  Then again, there could be any explanation as to why there is no fourth knight.

Well what about yellow??? You know from what I've learned about elements, the colors that go with each element are, Fire= red, water= blue, earth= green, and air= yellow. I mena I can see that fuu has blonde hair so it show something to do with wind, but still... hm.... I wish I could ask Clamp -_-;;;

Hmm, for some reason yellow doesn't really connect to wind for me. I'd think that wind would be more represented by white, or something like that. *shrugs*

From what I have seen,  green is more often connected with wind and gold or brown for earth, but that is just what I have seen in my experiances.

I still stick my resolution from earlier.  I believe we only discussed this over IM, but I believe that there are only three because four is not only an unlucky number (shi meaning death as well), but three is a magic number, notice that the numbers seven and three are used quite often in CLAMP works, even if hidden in mere symbolism.  ^.~

Yeah, I suppose three is a nice number, but I still feel sorry for the element of Earth...  :(... Maybe I should attempt to draw her because I am in a happy mood! Noticed I said attempt, not will XD...

How about this, we'll come up with a knight as a group to represent earth. We'll never use her, except as a joke when we make fun of trite storylines in mary sue fics.

Sound good?

She/he'll be our creation. And this creation will be a theme on the board. Like PUUrn.
If I'm logged on at two in the morning, I'm reading something NC-17 PUU-rn. I invented it, after all.

Has to be a random guy that attempts to mack on the Magic Knights in Tokyo Tower and gets sucked into Cephiro with them.

Wait.. so the Earth knight is now a guy??? O.o I'm good with the plan... but I still think the earth knight should be a girl O.o...

Don't worry, Cass.  The discussion has lost me, too.
