Crusade card series

I know this has gone around Tumblr but there's a couple folks here that aren't really on there, so I thought I'd cross-post the info!




there's an animanga card game called Crusade that features over 100 different series, including Yu Yu Hakusho and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.  this year for MKR's 20th anniversary, they're adding a set of Rayearth cards to the series!  these images were released of the Mashin, done by Crusade's illustrator, with character designer Atsuko Ishida tapped for the cards of the Knights. 

it's scheduled to come out on November 21st.  you can preorder it at AmiAmi.com for 3400Y (that's 30% off) which is around $32 USD.


there will also be a few cards of the Knights signed by their seiyuu randomly distributed in the packages!

some additional information about the artwork on the Knights' cards.

I followed the link trail and found Ishida's website, and on her blog was this image:





so there's a preview of what the cards might look like!


Ishida is actually a veteran to MKR, having done a ton of promo art as well as MKR's character design and some art direction in MKR2.  she's most well-known, I believe, for her art direction/character design in Shamanic Princess but the same style is used often late in the MKR anime.  (the artwork preview above of Fuu especially reminds me of some of the SP characters - though I haven't seen the anime I've seen lots of it around!)








I saw a lot of folks complaining about the Bluray artwork but umm, that's actually her work, too.  I had to double-check but it reminded me of a few pieces of late promo art for the anime (like this one), and yep, it's her work, it's just been 20 years so the style has changed a little!




so I don't know about anyone else, but I'm excited to see brand-new official art of the Knights!  we've had some manga artwork come out through the years via all CLAMP's crossovers, but it's been a long time since we got new anime art (or really anything MKR-specific as opposed to crossovers)  I really dig how Ishida's style looks these days, different for sure but modern and cool, and I'm glad they have someone doing the artwork who's so familiar with the characters.

I never remembered to post this but these are the cards I got with the new art!

I really want the Fuu and Hikaru ones, ofc.  am willing to trade any of these Mashin cards except Windam, and I'm happy to trade a bunch of my cards with "old art" on them too.  what did everyone else get?  I haven't even seen Fuu's and Hikaru's cards yet... D:

will probably post to Tumblr to see if anyone there can trade.  haven't found any on eBay yet. :x
