Okay, got a good one for Fuu/Ferio. Anybody here read Persuasion by Jane Austen? If not, here's the wiki, but if you don't mind the writing style, I highly recommend it. It's my favorite of the Austen novels.

Anyway, the Plot Mokona? Basically, Fuu as Anne Elliot and Ferio as Captain Wentworth. In some setting, Fuu and Ferio got engaged for a short period but then Fuu broke it off. Fuu's convinced she's doing it for his sake, Ferio's convinced it's the fault of someone else persuading her that he wasn't good enough, and they part on bad terms. Several years later, Ferio comes back way more accomplished/rich than he was and decides, what the hell, he'll just marry the first halfway decent person that comes his way, while Fuu's pretty much resigned herself to never loving again and tries to make the best of it. Then their paths cross again, but Ferio's still inwardly bitter (though he thinks he's over her) and tries to woo someone else in their circle instead...

You know what, just go read the summary. There's a lot to it, but it's got a satisfying happy ending and IMHO strong Fuu/Ferio potential. (And yes, to be completely honest, I did try fitting Ascot/Umi in there first, but the dynamics don't really suit their characters either way)
If your headcanon for Ascot's backstory doesn't make me want to cry, I probably won't believe it.

Yay for Persuasion!!

But.........

Down and I have discussed this a few times today and have decided that we don't think Fuu/Ferio suits Persusion.  Fuu just wouldn't be waiting around that long after realising she'd made a mistake in turning him down. They'd be better for Northanger Abbey, probably.  Over excited and imaginative, Cathrine and the dashing, but fun-loving Mr. Tilney.

Instead.... Picture this:

Emeraude as Anne and Zagato as Wentworth.  It works, right?  I mean, come on. Totally!

But who could possibly be the infamous Lady Russell?!  (Hold on to your hat, Mokona Lord!)

It's perfect.  Who would be the person you'd think could persuade Emeraude that she shouldn't be dragged down by Zagato?  None other than the person who has helped raise her from infancy, Clef!

EDIT TO ADD: and F/F works well for having the older sister with a forbidden lover bit in NA too!!!!   Not sure about the brother, but could probably find someone to pull in for that one.  Hm......

Yes, Emeraude and Zagato would work very well here. And my hat is still stable, thank you very much. ;D

It's fun to play with MKR characters in Jane Austen novels, isn't it? Unfortunately, Ascot/Umi doesn't usually fit well, although springdelirium did have that Pride and Prejudice oneshot with Umi as Darcy that I think could actually work because Ascot's heart is pretty much through his beasties/animals so if you just didn't bring that into the picture for a little while-

Okay, you guys might need to hold on to your horn, because I am going to say something that will be very painful to say, and I will probably repress ever even thinking it lest it ruin that particular novel for me. Clef/Umi in Emma.

EDIT: Just one thing. For the love of Mokona, Ascot is not, and will never be, Mr. Elton. NEVER! I mean, I don't see him quite as a Frank Churchill, either (actually, that'd be a good part for Ferio), but definitely not Mr. Elton.
If your headcanon for Ascot's backstory doesn't make me want to cry, I probably won't believe it.

*cackles* I have had the Emma could be Clef/Umi thought myself before now but - maaaaaaay have a version of Umi-is-Darcy in the works somewhere with Mils (and Clef as Lizzie because - well, it's us XD) which does have a pretty large amount of Fuu and Ferio because Ferio is Jane and Fuu is Bingley, obviously, and I am arguing that Eagle is Wickham because Emeraude and Zagato are married (and - Clef is related to Emeraude and Ferio for REASONS um) which makes Lantis their brother-in-law because LANTIS IS LYDIA. (And Hikaru is Umi's younger sister) (they may all three end up in a SCANDALOUS RELATIONSHIP it workssssssssss shhhhhhhhhhhhh Lantis as Lydia is glorious okay)

Also Caldina is Emeraude's cousin who's going to inherit their home if she and Zagato don't have a girl. And LaFarga is Charlotte Lucas.

Ascot is therefore Maria Lucas and ends up living with them??

UM BUT ANYWAY

FOR FUU AND FERIO as Mils said - NORTHANGER ABBEY ALL THE WAY :DDDDDDDDD

We have a google doc titled P&P AU Crack, and it contains this glory:

Darcy - Umi
Elizabeth - Clef
Jane - Ferio (If he is marrying Fuu, best be Jane?)
Lydia - Emeraude
Mr. Collins - Caldina
Charlotte - LaFarga
MARIA LUCAS - ASCOT?? ??
Caroline - Aska
Wickham - Zagato
Wickham's SURPRISE BROTHER - Lantis
Bingley - Fuu
Georgiana - Hikaru
Kitty - ?? ?? DO YOU EXIST?
Mary - ?? ?? ? ALSO POSSIBLY NON-EXISTENT!
Any other siblings? :D
Lady Catherine De Burgh - Tarta and Tatra (SOMEHOW??)

It is a truth almost universally acknowledged, that a woman in possession of a great fortune must be in want of a husband. (But does she really want a husband? Perhaps a wife?)

The woman herself may not acknowledge it. But wherever she goes, young men in need of funds will be certain of the fact - or, at least, their parents will...(Other young women, being able to leave home and seek their fortunes, are more likely to feel that a woman whose fortune is already, happily, secure, may be in want of companions to enjoy said fortune with. Marriage, without likelihood of accidental children, being slightly more optional. If they were planning to adopt or otherwise acquire a joint heir, of course, then marriage would be involved.)

Sweet Mokona S'mores. As my love of sheer crack completely overrides my general dislike of Clemi in this case, I must say,
THAT IS AMAZING! I LOVE IT!

I'm gonna sound like an uncultured swine, but I never got around to ever reading Pride and Prejudice...I just couldn't make myself after having Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights force fed to me in high school. >.> I spent sophomore year wanna to just beat people senseless during English class for how bored I was. Thank you, I'd much rather read King Lear. "OUT VILE JELLY! where is thy lustre now" *cough*

Though I'm sure for anyone who does love that book, this would tickle them senseless.

I suppose one day I should get around to attempting to read it...
Legend says when you can't sleep,
it's because you're awake in someone else's dream.
So that's why I can never sleep properly...
Who the bloody hell is dreaming about me because so help me God,
I will smother them in the face with a throw pillow.

no worries, I've never read any of them, though I'm somewhat familiar with them by osmosis.  in fact the only Pride & Prejudice I liked was the 2005 (ish??) one with Keira Knightly.

VKiera, you're not uncultured.  And if it makes you feel better, I didn't actually read Pride and Prejudice until I was in my 20s, because it was the theme of a few chapters of one of the Princess Diaries books. Mia and her friend read it and loved it.   It's hilarious in parts.

Though, I might suggest Northanger Abbey as a starter book for Jane Austen if you want to try reading any.  A novel about novels.... essentially a parody of the gothic novels of the day.   You have Catherine Morland (who reads too many novels, but is ridiculously naive) gets invited to Bath with some family friends and meets Mr. Tilney. She ends up getting invited to the Tilneys' (father, sister, and Mr.) house for a week or so. She decides that the father must have murdered the dead mother, and chaos ensues.  It's a very silly book.  Lots of chatter between her and various people about all the big titles of the day.

Which is why I like the idea of it being Fuu/Ferio.   It just works.    There is a film version with Felicity Jones and JJ Field, if you'd rather not read it. It gets the teenage fantasies and gothic novels across.

And on the topic of the P&P fic.   Alterations have now changed to Emeraude and Zagato are married. Because their families are dead and there is no one to support their unmarried younger brothers and unmarried cousin, Clef, they are caring for them, and trying to get them married off in good matches.

Eagle is Wickham.  He's untrustworthy because he is French, and it is the Napoleonic wars after all....  And that whole trying to woo Hikaru when she was still young.  Umi is very decidedly against him because of his treatment of her little sister, even if they were friends as children.

He runs off with Lantis at some point, causing a scandal! (and very serious worry to his brother because they would have no money to live!)

Hikaru possibly adopts the two of them at the end?  Not sure of the details yet.
